The problem is that in sport, it’s a question of “what have you done for me lately.” Fair or not, Pulisic is the FACE of soccer in America. You gave tens of millions of Americans (many of whom were watching because it’s the NFL offseason) no reason to keep watching the sport.

Where did the refs violate protocol? IFAB allows for use of the VAR to determine a red card and slow motion to determine the “facts,” such as the position of the player or point of contact for an offense. It was a red, but because Trump & Gianni are BFFs, Balogun got the CR7 special.

IFAB’s laws don’t account for “intent” when judging “serious foul play” though. Commentators & fans may discuss whether a player meant to or intended to commit serious foul play, but the literal text of the Law 12 doesn’t mention intent.
