Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 25/06/2026I remember Andy Burnham as a future leader in 2010. Two damp squib leadership campaign followed by an abandonment of parliament - seemed like the end of that ambition. Mayoral positions are all about spending money rather than collecting it. Is Burnham the real thing? 000

Alternative sources of manufacture are required. The US will not only be losing customers but also gaining competition as NATO researches it own. 000

Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025I felt they were both in politics for the good they could do not becos of the career they could make. Acheiving power was about what you could do with it, not a goal in it's own right. Give me a philanderer and a drunk any day over a career politician. 010
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025Charles Kennedy and Paddy Ashdown would never have propped up a Tory Government. but they had principles. 200
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025The Tories would have been in civil war held to ransom by their lunatic Euro-Sceptic wing. LibDems just made it easy for them and inflicted another 10+ years of Tory Govt on the Country, not to mention Brexit. ...but at least u got a PR referendum out of it and to ride in ministerial cars. 110
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025Corbyn was a disaster for the Labour Party, happy to blame him if that does not screw with your world view too much. 100
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025"But that isn’t a choice between power or principal because what is the point of a party that eschews the chance to govern?" forgive me if I am missing somnething but this is the defeinition of choosing Power over Principle? 100
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025I am agreeing you opted for Power (Coalition/PR referendum) over Principle (Austerity, Student Fees, 14yrs Tory Govt, Brexit) I just don't see how you can dis-own the consequences. 100
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025lol, I was replying to a LibDem sugesting Labour MPs defect to the Lib Dems. Reform is a threat to the Country not the Party. 010
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025There was not fiscal room for "very popular policies" in 2010. Thus the ConLib Austerity era that followed. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_20...en.wikipedia.orgJune 2010 United Kingdom budget - Wikipedia 100
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025wouldn't you be more at home in Reform? as soon as you start to question what you are saying you revert to distraction and name calling. 100
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025and yet you resist the accusation of Power over Principle? If you are going to take the 30 pieces of silver then at least own it. 100
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025agreed ConLIB was the only viable Coalition if your objective is power. Power over Principle is a valid A weak minority Con Govt would have collapsed long before the 2015 Election. and the Tories would have not gained a majority. Complicity in enabling Brexit and Austerity are also valid. 100
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025Supporting Labour Supporting Tories These were not the only two options as previously stated and thus the accusation Power over Principle. 000
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025who did not think it viable either. Just wanted to remind you that if u post a f@ck off response you need to get ur facts right or u look very silly. QED 000
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025also Sinn Fein did not take their sets so only 323 required for majority. 100

Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025Lab-LibDem was prolly not viable. Tory Minority Govt would not have been re-elected in 2015 and would likely have folded earliar. www.itv.com/news/2023-05...itv.com 000

Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025There were just 2 changes of gevernment between 1979 and 2024 (45 years). Incumbancy is a huge advantage in the UK which is why the LDs have a degree of responsibility for BREXIT. If you allow your dog into your bedroon don't be suprised if he sh*ts on your bed. 010
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 19/09/2025Labour had been elected 3 times in the previous 13 years and had fallen just shy of making it 4. The Tories had also fallen short in 2010 but were unnecessarily handed the keys to Downing Street by a LDs prizing power over principle. It took 14 years to undo the damage. 300
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 18/09/2025What you are saying is... if you forget about our record in government we are a left wing party. The Lib Dems gifted the Tories into Government that led to 14 yrats of austerity, brexit and the biggest shift to the right in my lifetime. It is not likely that progressives will forget. 100

Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 14/09/2025We are not safe. The Tories have been outflanked to the right and are in an existential crisis. The last Tory Government Changed leaders three times without calling an Election. The Labour Party does not assainate leaders. Seems to me, you need to do a lil research before forming an opinion. 100
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 14/09/2025As for BJ becoming PM. 1. He is no longer an MP 2. The Tory Party is currently polling 15-19% in the polls 3. He has been absent from British politics since he was toppled by his own Party. The bloke is a grifter and has not been forgiven since Partygate. 100
Dave Bryant @mmbozi.bsky.social · 14/09/2025Labour won a 174 seat majority in 2024. This is legitimate until 2029. Snap Elections happen with small majorities or minority governments.
