Let it be known: NOBODY catches Dermot Mulveiny stealing second twice in a row. The Rays have a runner in scoring position with one out in the top of the 6th!

Petra's day is done. Blaise Bailey Finnegan III - the original one - comes in and retires McTurdberg. But Ross Ewage caught onto something from the on-deck circle, and he laces a 2RBI double into the gap! Finnegan retires Bligh to end the top of the 5th, but the damage is done and the Rays lead 5-3!

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 10/01/2025

Makesiondon Kelkboom with a single and there's runners on the corners!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 09/01/2025

I feel like I've seen this movie before... Ovaltine with a single off of Sabor, then immediately steals second base. Can Petra maintain the tie?

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 09/01/2025

Just kidding, IIIxX was on second last inning. This time it's Narvaez Jr. crossing the plate. Coffee. Need more coffee.

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 09/01/2025

Brand new ball game!!! Dakota Carolina Montana with a two-out single brings home IIIxX from second, and we're all tied at three apiece!

111

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 09/01/2025

Oh, and while I'm thinking of it: BALL BOUNCE OVER WALL

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 09/01/2025

It's a leadoff double for Carlos Narvaez Jr. - let's see if the Phils can make the most of this chance!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 08/01/2025

Dermot Mulveiny walks again.... AND FINNEGAN IIIxX STRIKES AGAIN! He catches Mulveiny attempting the steal. What an impact he is having on this tense matchup!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 08/01/2025

Well, I have some catching up to do. Luckily my job isn't that hard - it's been four straight flyouts, and now the Rays have one out as we head into the second half of the game! #papercup

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 07/01/2025

He can get on base! It's a single for XxBlaise, a shallow liner toward center field. Wait a minute. How is he on second? Did he steal while I was typing this?? What a run of play for the Phillies catcher. He's really putting the team on his shoulders here!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 07/01/2025

Wow, speaking of a pitcher's duel, Petra sits down Ross Ewage and Hannibal Bligh in quick order and the Phillies are coming back to the plate! XxBlaise Bailey Finnegan IIIxX took a shot at the Rays last inning catching McTurdberg stealing. What can he do for them from inside the batter's box?

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 07/01/2025

McTurdberg walks, and goes for a steal of second base! Finnegan IIIxX has a cannon for an arm though, and McTurdberg is out by a step! That's a huge out for Sabor and the Phillies here!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 07/01/2025

Lancer strikes out Morris, what an inning he has put together! The Phillies are headed back out to the field as we tip into the second half of the game. What was initially an all-out offensive war has turned into a bit of a pitcher's duel. Will the bats find purchase again?

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 06/01/2025

A groundout and a flyout, and Sabor posts the first clean half-inning of the game. Lancer responds by retiring Dingerhitter and Montana, and the Phillies bats are down to their last out of the second inning!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 05/01/2025

There's a delay in the Rays dugout, Primero Ultimo heads down the tunnel and Mo Cheeks comes to the plate. Sabor induces a weak fly out and there's one out in the top of the second!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 05/01/2025

Lancer strikes out Mr. Plow, and we're headed to the second inning. Lots of players making their second #papercup appearance today! PHI: Q Kimbrel, Phil Coulson, Charles Magnus, Im Sleve TBR: Gray Goose McGillicuddy

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 04/01/2025

Well, it won't be a shutout this time! The Phillies are right back in this thing on a two run homer by TheRedKnight! What a battle so far, and we're only in the bottom of the first!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 04/01/2025

The Phillies have their first baserunner of the day! Phil Coulson, Agent of W.A.L.K., earns a free pass and now stands on first base.

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 04/01/2025

Lancer picks up where he left off by striking out DeAaron Taylor. Phil Coulson is appearing in his second Paper Cup, and now appears at the plate.

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 04/01/2025

And now, as the Rays take the field, Alex Lancer is slapping the rosin bag and digging into the rubber. The last time the Rays and Phillies faced each other was S8, G15. The Rays won that game 2-0, on the back of a 2-hit, 1-walk CSGO. The pitcher? Alex Lancer.

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 04/01/2025

Since the Rays scored three runs that inning, here's a fun fact: The Phillies have three players appearing in their third Paper Cup: Petra Sabor, Blaise Bailey Finnegan III, and Tasker Morris. Morris becomes the first MLR player with three PC appearances for the same team.

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 04/01/2025

A BIG out for Sabor here, as she induces a grounder to the hot corner and Returns is retired (say that one three times fast!)

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 04/01/2025

The TRAYn keeps rolling, that's a double for Dermot Mulveiny and the jam is just getting stickier for Sabor. Beans Returns is up next; will they return to home plate, return to the dugout, or will I have to return to this post a fourth time to get everyone's gender right? Stay tuned!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 04/01/2025

Catfish Champ is up to the plate, and Petra definitely got catfished on this one as Champ sends it over the center field wall! 3-0 Rays!

110

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 04/01/2025

Does Hannibal Bligh have a nickname? If not, it should be "Hanni Three Bags" or something. That's an RBI triple for Bligh, 1-0 Rays!

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 04/01/2025

I'm gonna skeet as though I was watching all of these plays happen in real time, for the benefit of those who read this later. Here we go:

After a grindy at-bat, Burg McTurdberg bounces one over the left-field wall for an automatic double. Or is it a ground-rule double? An automatic ground-rule double? Are there even any ground rules at Four Seasons Landscaping Park? hehe. ground rules. landscaping. hehe. #papercup

A fun fact about Sabor, as she takes the mound; when the first pitch is thrown, she will becomes the first pitcher in MLR history with pitching starts in three Paper Cup games (S3 for LAA, S6 for CWS). I'd say a PC appearance every 3-4 seasons is a pretty good clip!

110

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 03/01/2025

"Rivers in the Desert" is playing over the loudspeakers, the Rays and Phillies have entered their dugouts, Petra Sabor is walking out to the mound, and that can only mean one thing: THE PAPER CUP GAME IS ON! Our live skeet begins here and now with hashtag #papercup.

League Operations has announced that, based on season record tiebreaks, the S10 Paper Cup will be held in Philadelphia. Four Seasons Total Landscaping Park offers a small boost to singles, and a significant reduction in home runs. A true "small ball" park should make for a fun game!

The stage is set! A two-hit, complete game shutout by Im Sleve sends the Phillies to the Paper Cup! A team RBI cycle by @phi.mlr.gg included an RBI single from King Raj, two RBI doubles from Carlos Narvaez Jr, an RBI triple from XxBlaise Bailey Finnegan IIIxX, and a home run from DeAaron Taylor!

On the other side of the league, the Phillies (@phi.mlr.gg) lead the Braves 1-0 in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Will the Phraudsters phind their way to the Paper Cup, or will they get chopped?

We're also in the middle of the Fake College Baseball season, where we welcome new Rookies to the league, get them acclimated, and help them make a name for themselves in preparation for the S11 MLR Draft!

There truly is something for everyone in MLR - and we're hurtling toward the end of Season 10, where teams are vying to bring home the championship trophy, the Paper Cup!

Finally, players contribute by generating hype for their teams! This could be some (mild) trash talk in game threads, creation of memes / gifs, artistic lineup cards for their team, etc. Players also act as "media", generating fun and interesting content just like an MLB media member might.

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 13/12/2024

Players participate in "scouting", where they try to analyze past at-bats to figure out what a player will do next. We use Discord bots, Google Sheets, and a lot of brainpower to analyze trends and try to predict the hitter / pitcher's next move!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 13/12/2024

The home team's Park Factors also contribute to determining the result. Some parks are more likely to allow home runs, some are more likely to allow singles, etc. The combination of player types and park factors leads to a lot of interesting strategy!

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 13/12/2024

A "Three True Outcomes" pitcher will give up some homers, but is more likely to strike out a batter; an "Extreme Groundballer" pitcher will give up some hits, but induces a lot of groundouts.

100

Major League Redditball @mlr.gg · 13/12/2024

The players each have a hitting or pitching "type" that they select. Those types grant bonuses or penalties that change the likelihood of certain outcomes. For example, a hitter with the "Max Homers" type is more likely to hit a homer, and a "Speedy" hitter is great at stealing bases!
