Super excited to be in Hong Kong for a short academic stay at City University of Hong Kong. Today I’ll be giving a talk on spoken word recognition under mid-vowel variation in Catalan (see flyer below). Many thanks to Prof. Charles Chang (@pamlab.bsky.social) for being such an awesome host!

Yesterday I was invited to give a talk at the 6th Jornadas Fonética Open Days organized by #FonoLab at @usaloficial.bsky.social. It was great to meet super nice folks doing phonetics in the area of Romance/Hispanic Linguistics and reconnect with a couple of people in my MA cohort back in 2013 (!!)

Day 1 at the LSSL in the books! 🧠 Spoken word recognition: what is it, what do we know and how did we get here? Characteristics of spoken language. Models of (L1) spoken word recognition: a historical overview. Useful experimental paradigms and current state-of-the-art #lisboa #lisbon

This week I've presented some of my most recent research at EuroSLA32 in Birmingham. My talk was “On the coupling between perception and production of second-language sounds in tasks involving lexical processing” and is based on a paper that's in press in SSLA. Link to post-print: osf.io/h8c3q
