I will say, that I though Nyoni was fantastic in his limited minutes. I don't think he put a foot wrong (albeit, maybe a hand 😉). I'd like to see him and Mac Allister more in a double-pivot. That he likes to fall back a bit can work well in this midfield. #LFC

As for the Wirtz criticism, I see it, but I remain bullish. He'll misplay a pass, often undercooked, but will also put some on a plate, seeing things that others don't... yet. Given that injuries to Ekitike and Isak have deprived any semblance of stability in front of him, and playing with a […]

Had to time shift, but have FINALLY seen the Bournemouth match. Really difficult opposition, who were up for it. Very impressed by Bournemouth's energy and physicality. It helps to have Michael Oliver on the whistle, but what can be done? Jacquet deservedly the MOTM, but a solid case could be […]

The movement on the ball from the angle behind the net. ❤️ #LFC

It's a handball in the box, the arm outward to create a wider profile. But there is no VAR. (Though who knows what VAR would have decided). Madley is more interested in punishing dissent, the fragile ego on that guy. #LFC

Clown show defending, but Mamardashvili is there to paw it away. Fantastic save! I have questions about the goal conceded, but he's been outstanding. #LFC

Both teams gifting chances and both largely wasting them. Szoboszlai in alone and was off balance trying to stay onside (he was miles onside) #LFC

Not only was that a perfect challenge from Kerkez, but his awareness that Araujo was going to have to switch to cover the ball and the abandoned runner was more the threat -- brilliant. #LFC

Had to step away to pick up a kiddo from school and missed the second goal. Just arrived to see a fine save from Mamardashvili. Kerkez giving too much space. #LFC

I'm not a huge fan of Andy Madley as a match official, but he's doing his best to keep this game under control by throwing yellows to keep the temperature down. #LFC

He knew it the moment he struck it. Peeled off in celebration because Dubravka would have no chance. Mac Allister rejuvenated under Iraola? He was well below his levels last season. #LFC

After a moment of indecision in coming to claim a ball Gomez was expecting him to gatehr, Mamardashvili makes a very solid save after some horrid defending. Rio late recovering, then Gomez must choose between covering two players but ended up leaving the bigger threat open. #LFC

Probably a deserved draw. Had moments at the end that just went wide. 1.13 xG on 0 goals tells that story. Team in transition. Still a thin squad and coming off an intense match 3 days ago? Tough to find consistency. Jacquet was very good. He’s been a bright spot in this young season. Araujo […]

Kerkez was more worried about the overlap than the ball carrier and it almost cost dearly. Still, Kerkez > Tsimikas #LFC

Won’t be sorry to see Castagne depart. Blocked a number of key passes and shots. Like the sub of Ngumoha for Barcola, managing minutes for both. IMHO, Frimpong is never the right choice. #LFC

Mike Lawton @mlawton.mstdn.social.ap.brid.gy · 12/09/2026

Good subs by Iraola. Gravenberch has not had a great campaign. We know what he’s capable of, but he’s struggling to find it. And when the midfield struggles, everything is compromised. Munoz was decent. Good header denied by a great save. #LFC

BTW, the foul disparity continues. 8 #LFC fouls committed to just 3 for Fulham. At home! Remarkable how the officiating always helps the opposition. LFC aren’t a terribly aggressive team off the ball. I can’t explain it.

Tsimikas getting the halftime hook is a mercy. He was dreadful. Gravenberch is fortunate not to get subbed out too. Very poor. #LFC

Good win. For a work in progress there is plenty to be happy about. For starters, the intensity is massively improved over last season. Szoboszlai is my MOTM, but a special shout out to Isak and Wirtz for some terrific pressing. Jacquet and Araujo look very promising. As much as I was sorry to […]

Things you notice... wingers that backtrack. Saw Barcola do it repeatedly in the first half, then just now Kerkez came forward to make a challenge and Munoz is already got him covered. Hopeful signs for a squad that wants to continue to harass the opposition when out of position. #LFC

Had to step out to pick up a kiddo from school. Paramount+ has no pause feature, so I've missed 25 minutes. Came back in time to see Atleti asking for a yellow card, which the referee doesn't seem to know is itself a yellow card. Just saw the replay of the Mac Allister strike. Wow. #LFC

Replay shows a clear foul. Commentators discuss a clear foul. Referee sees no foul and spends all kinds of time arguing about leaving the field for an injury stoppage WHEN HE COULD HAVE PREVENTED THE STOPPAGE BY CALLING THE FOUL. #LFC

Pretty nice first touch from Isak on a well-timed run... good patience not to stray offside. Gakpo with the assist and showing why he was wanted by other big clubs. Happily #LFC reversed course and avoided shipping him away. Bright start!
