YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 07/11/2025I thought the exact same thing!!! Jonathan Clark was reverse engineering the RP3A0 a while back, but obviously wasn't able to figure out stuff like the MIPI DSI balls. I kinda wanna pick up where he left off, RE the CM0 and make an even tinier RP3A0 SOM. github.com/jonny12375/r...github.comGitHub - jonny12375/rp3a0: Reverse engineering the RP3A0 SoC from the Raspberry Pi Zero 2WReverse engineering the RP3A0 SoC from the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W - jonny12375/rp3a0 120
YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 07/11/2025Thankfully, unlike the impossible-to-buy Compute Module 3E (which also used the RP3A0 SOC), the CM0 and IO Board devkit are widely available on AliExpress and Taobao! Many thanks to RasPi and EDATEC for not completely locking down the supply chain! 😃 000
YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 07/11/2025EDATEC has also designed a more fully featured carrier board, the CM0 NANO, with a battery-backed RTC, USB hub, and Ethernet. edatec.cn/zh/cm0nano 100
YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 07/11/2025Chinese makers are already releasing awesome OSHW projects using the CM0, like the MoCM0, which is a 45x45x20mm Mac Mini-inspired Linux PC with active cooling. oshwhub.com/movecall/mocm0 210
YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 07/11/2025Like other Compute Modules, there's a Lite version without eMMC that boots from a microSD card, as well as variants without onboard Wi-Fi 4 / Bluetooth 4.2. The CM0 with no eMMC or wireless is the cheapest version; it costs ¥145 from retailers (about $20) 200
YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 07/11/2025To flash the onboard eMMC, just install the nRPIBOOT jumper and connect a cable to the bottom microUSB port. Run rpiboot, write an OS image, and you're off to the races! raspberrypi.com/documentatio... 100
YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 07/11/2025Some more pics of the IO Board. The CM0 is uniquely suited for low-profile applications that need a lot of IO. othermod.com 's PSPi comes to mind! 100
YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 07/11/2025The CM0 IO Board comes in a small, no-frills box with a 2.4GHz patch antenna and a jumper to enable flashing the CM0's onboard eMMC. Oddly, the support URL on the box -- raspberrypi.com/products/cm0... -- currently 404s. 100
YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 07/11/2025The CM0 is a SOM based around the processor that's on the Pi Zero 2W. It's got the exact same specs (1GHz BCM2710A1 + 512MB LPDDR2) but with MIPI DSI fanned out, optional onboard eMMC, and a u.FL antenna connector. Here's a size comparison with a Pi Zero 2W and the CM0 IO board. 220

YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 10/07/2025There's no recreation or emulation happening here. Kawaii contains an official Wii motherboard, heavily trimmed down with a Dremel! But yes, Wiis can be trimmed much smaller than GameCubes, and also use much less power. 130

YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Thanks! A flex would totally work, but I decided to experiment with MHF4 for fun. Plus like you said, they're pretty optimal for transmitting analog audio+video in such a cramped and noisy environment. 030

YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 20/11/2024There are still chargers on the market with 12V! (takes a good long while for things to become fully spec compliant, and may things never do) 20V is not good for charging 1S batteries, the config all Wii portables use, so I opted for the four lower-voltage PDOs. 010

YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 19/11/2024My LT6711A board works perfectly! It draws about 1W when converting 1080p HDMI to DP Alt Mode. ⚡ 1273
YveltalGriffin @mks.bsky.social · 17/11/2024The LT6711A can do DP Alt Mode with USB, but I prefer an external microSD slot on my portables. Someone else on BitBuilt is working on their own LT6711A module with USB for those that want it. 110
