I think that's why they specified "intentionally." Hot coffee was not meant to be in the final game.

"How descriptive and specific should we be with the captions?" "Err on the side of more specific, just to be safe."
Screenshot from the movie Backrooms with a caption reading, "(DISTANT RECORDED VOICES FROM GREETING IN 55 LANGUAGES)"

Something similar happened to me. I quietly muttered, "It was you, wasn't it?" and he got super pissed.

Continuing the tradition of "we're going to make the next one more like Diablo 2 you guys"

15. Her Trees I planned to just check it out, and ended up playing the whole thing in one go. A cool, free puzzle game that only takes about an hour. All puzzles are available from the get-go, so when one stumps you (most did for me at first!), you can go check out another. I had a great time!

14. Tales from Candleforth Took a chance on this short, hand-drawn point-and-click adventure (it was at the local library), and glad I did. No moon-logic puzzles; I didn’t have to look anything up. I’d be happy if it turns into a longer series.
A puzzle from the game with animal skulls and icons of animal heads the the background.

13. Yurukill Fun mix of Danganronpa with shoot-em-up gameplay. I initially had some trouble with the villain’s motivations, but after sitting with it, I have some headcanon that makes it work. Let’s see a sequel that takes it further.
A Maji-kill sequence, where the player tries to convince someone else not to kill them. The text "Urge to Kill Rising" appears over the character Rina saying, "Your sympathy doesn't mean a thing if you aren't willing to confess..."

12. Donkey Kong Bananza Predictably excellent. Never really challenging (boss battles ended in about a minute, first try), but a lot of fun. Smashing through everything didn’t get old for the whole runtime. Great soundtrack, too, particularly the Zebra and Banadium Core Tower themes.
Donkey Kong, in Zebra form, runs across water with Pauline on his back.

11. Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library! A good, relaxing game that scratches the Powerwash Simulator itch, but because I needed to be reading the book titles, it isn’t mindless enough that I could listen to podcasts while playing. Really recommended for the price.
Beginning of the game, showing a ton of books on the floor of a library.

I saw three movies in theaters over the last few months, and the line that gave me the strongest emotional reaction was delivered by Road Runner. #coyotevsacme

I played it there, it's looking great! Looking forward to the final game to get that Nine Sols feeling again

It seems that it may require reauthenticating with the disc after a certain period of time. So, you can't do this and then sell your Xbox that has a disc drive in favor of a Helix or Series S without one, or after a while you would lose your licenses.

If they insist we use Lake America instead of Lake Ontario, HOMES doesn't work as a mnemonic to remember the names of the Great Lakes. I suggest we all use SHAME.

For the Xbox, yes, they have all of my games, and I have it set to automatically allow them to play E and E10 games. I can allow other games when they try to launch them. On Steam, they can only use games where family sharing is enabled, and I have to manually blacklist or whitelist everything.

My kids both have email addresses, but they won't get the passwords until they're way older. They were really only used to make their supervised Xbox and Steam accounts.

10. Rift of the Necrodancer A lot of fun! A straight rhythm game, but with the main challenge being reading the notes to play that are encoded as monsters. Also has some Punch-Out!! and Rhythm Heaven. On paper, sounds great; in practice, even better. And the kids love it, too.

100% my experience. I rarely used my disc drive (usually playing indies that didn't get physical releases), but when I discovered my library does video games, I started using it all the time. And the first one I got was Sonic Frontiers

Didn't somebody do something similar on the Vita? Dropped a placeholder game so they could release the actual game later as an update?

I mainly played it single player, but my kids wanted to help, so we found a few levels where they could focus on some sort of non-rhythm task.

I would've thought it was the coolest thing to hang an antenna out of a top floor window and run a long line down to the Xbox '78 to play neighborhood multiplayer

8. Final Fantasy III Pixel Remaster I’m playing through the Pixel Remasters in order, and had a great time with FF3. A solid return to form after FF2 (which was still fun, but I don’t feel like I’ll go back to it any time soon).
Screenshot from the ending of Final Fantasy 3 Pixel Remaster, showing the main character telling NPCs, "It's been a pleasure."

7. Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis P3R was a great time that I recommend to everyone. The DLC was a slog that took a year to finish because I kept putting it off. I ended up turning the difficulty all the way down to just get through it. Even if you loved the base game, I can’t say I recommend it.

6. Spray Paint Simulator If you’re done with both Power Wash Simulator games and need more content, this will do. That’s definitely me, so I had a good time listening to an audiobook and covering things with paint.

5. One Upon a Katamari Certainly the most fun I’ve had with a Katamari game since the PS2. No weird gimmicks or anything, just fun. Definitely worth a play for series fans.

It would have been so perfect if Colbert's last guest was the pope, over Zoom, and they just talked about Tolkien for a half hour.

He's arguing that something must be true because he can't think of anything that disproves it? That's... quite a shift.
