Our hotel room has, bizarrely, a weird hole above the bed between the bedroom and the bathroom.

Like I don’t see how you look at a change this abrupt and conclude that the difference between those who turned 18 in the mid 70s vs the early 70s is sudden endemic car use significant enough to knock 2 years off life expectancy

The fact that the BBC think Bedford is *60 miles* north of the M25 says a lot about the dismal standard of reporting on anything outside London these days.

This leadership drama is the junk food of news - tons of salty flavour but a load of empty calories 🤷‍♂️

New short film out tomorrow, in which I document one town's fight to save a broken road and become accidentally radicalised by Nick Offerman in the process. Makes sure you're subscribed to the 'stack or the YouTube Channel to get it while it's warm. www.youtube.com/@MFRobbins

Quite a telling quote from previous coverage. Men being disengaged from the real world is a big multiplier for social media brain.

Amazing scenes in Shefford at Old Bridge Way, the road abandoned to ruin by Central Bedfordshire Council. The council placed 'private road' signs to show they won't be held responsible for it, but residents have, er, repurposed them...

Hence my new approach this Xmas - 12 hours sous vide in a random plastic storage tub and a blast on the barbecue to finish.

The HQ of Thames Valley Police is 1200 yards away, but they've shown little interest in Britain's largest active crime scene. The Environment Agency have delayed and prevaricated at every step. It is unlikely the rubbish will be cleared before 2027 at the earliest.

Not going to dunk on civilians but it’s unreal that people are still sharing this, like I don’t know how you can be a functioning human being and think this sub-influencer dross reads like a 95-year-old British comedy actress. Wtf is half of it even talking about?

Notably, if you follow the link, even the blog itself doesn’t claim she wrote it for them, it looks like something the author found on the Internet. jayspeak.blog/2025/08/02/g...

I say *was*, because this is what it looks like today, less than four months after opening. This was not casual or accidental - bins and signs were moved, wood was piled up, fuel used. The entire 70m stretch of boardwalk was set ablaze in a deliberate, blatant act of vandalism.
