SRC changed their terms of use yesterday, and released a news post with an FAQ. They make it sound like not a big deal. It's a big deal. The Creative Commons licence is gone. They claim ownership over the data now. Thread about what this means, and what we can do about it 🧵

This is a shot in the dark, but I was wondering if anyone on here has any ideas on where I can find Presbyterian birth and marriage records from Pennsylvania, circa 1857/1858. Trying to work on a Canadian citizenship by descent application, but am struggling to find a few records I need.

Do you ever think about the fact that the designers of General Midi were tasked with coming up with the 128 most important instruments in the world, and one of the answers they came up with was "Goblins"

Using their language bc the phrase "Stifling innovation" in US antitrust/anticompetition cases tends to get heard When you file a complaint here, make sure to name "Google LLC and Alphabet Inc." keepandroidopen.org #keepandroidopen

Concern Regarding Google's Android OS and Competition

I, the consumer, purchased an Android device believing in Google’s promise it was an open computing platform and that I could run the software I chose on it. Starting next year, they will be non-consensually pushing an update to my device irrevocably blocking this right, leaving me at the mercy of their judgement over what software I am permitted to use. This decision stifles innovation in the mobile development space, and will harm the programming literacy of future generations as Android app development is commonly used in US schooling. It is entirely at odds with Android's foundation as an open-source operating system.

Took longer than expected, but I have finally gotten my website updated and switched over to the new domain! Links have all been updated too, so things should actually work. Only took me, what, about a year to get around to?

I now have properly set up Bluesky, and plan to try and use it more! If you got a notification out of nowhere that I followed, blame the Sky Bridge extension! That extension also seems to trip up over me using a custom domain, so if you're looking for my old Twitter, it's @MizuhoCoyote.

Just got home from #TTFC '23 in Tulsa, and now comes the worst part. I had an amazing time with so many friends, and I can't wait for next year! Does TTFC staff even use Bluesky/Mastodon? I don't know, but either way thank you for all of the hard work you all did to put on such a great event!

Me and my father's attempt at a photo of tonight's moon. We unfortunately rediscovered our DSLR camera a bit later for optimal viewing, and also couldn't find all of the settings we were looking for, but otherwise it turned out pretty good! I'll have to play with the camera more for next time...

Now that I'm finally leaving Twitter for Mastodon and Bluesky, I just need to re-find my follows and such, but I'm wondering: should I transfer both of my accounts, or merge them? On Twitter, I had a main and an AD, but that seems less common now. Wondering if I should just merge them instead...
