Changing smoke alarm batteries robs me of my will to live, especially the poorly placed one in the upstairs loft that's impossible to see into re the positive and negative bits and requires careful balancing on a small ladder lest I go flying over the railing to the floor below.

Nice to know my dive bar pals all miss me! Guess they'll have to wait until mid-November for a command performance!

Urgently needed a resized colour photo printed out for @teddytedaloo.bsky.social 's passport and the local library came to our rescue. I suspect this is the first time they've had to print a passport photo for a bear!

Had a lovely early autumn beach walk - perfection! UV so low no sunblock required, and the blue heron was out catching his seafood lunch.

Today was a dangerous day for Trader Joe's. All the yummy autumn stuff is out. I had to refrain and only get stuff that can stay in the cupboard and not go bad. Having said that, I did get a chocolate grenache sheet cake, which has nothing to do with the season.

The scammers are getting dumber by the minute. One of them just posted some pro-US-military nonsense in response to a comment I made on a Facebook friend's account about Papa Lazarou being my hero - and my comment actually includes a photo of Papa Lazarou. 🤣

Finally going to donate for this year's winter coat drive that coat I've been meaning to donate these last few years. It will definitely keep someone warm!

Baltimore County Animal Services just took in two dogs, a mom & daughter, that were surrendered due to vomiting for the past couple of days after getting into the trash. They described both dogs as very friendly and they get along great but are not bonded. cttr.substack.com/p/baltimore-...

Enjoyed a lovely peaceful beach walk and kept seeing the same guy driving around in his golf cart with a skeleton passenger. Throw in a pair of abandoned bedroom slippers in the road, and it's just a regular Sunday!

Eight stops/errands today, including gym. It will be nice not to have to go anywhere tomorrow, though on Friday I'm booked in for a Canadian car wax/detailing job! The geese are already up to no good.

I thought I recognised Squamish in this film. Note in the credits it says no generative AI was used. Thumbs up! www.imdb.com/title/tt2801...

Decided to grab a midday beach walk before any biker shootouts. Once again my Gemini assistant claimed the UV was only 1. I'm sure this guy is lying to me! This is what I get for having a British AI assistant. 🤣

Grabbed an early evening schvimminks. Bit chilly getting back out - the angle of the sun has really shifted now. I even accused my Gemini bloke of lying when he told me the UV was only 1.

Funny how my Amazon orders are always delivered promptly when they are the ones delivering them. But when they turn it over to the USPS, I get delayed delivery messages. Order for today now delayed until next Wednesday? Same for another order - three times it's listed as delayed.

Heads up: Ingram has NOT informed authors or the majority of trad publishers that they can opt out of having print books sold for AI training. If you're traditionally published, you, the author, CANNOT opt out. Your publisher has to opt out. lp.ingramcontent.com/publishers-r...

Apparently, I missed being at the scene of a shooting between rival biker gangs by a matter of minutes while out on a beach walk. I did wonder about that biker with the "treasurer" patch who walked past me. Holiday weekend hijinks. 🤯

Just heard that some literary agents are trying to get a share of the #Anthropic settlement. Bad enough publishers are taking 50% when they already take the bulk of author earnings. Now more vultures are swooping in to steal the food from the starving mouths of authors.
