New Math: Don’t let real numbers cause the loss of real lives or money
Have you ever written a program where you were sure your math was right, but it came out wrong? Often, it’s not the math that is wrong…

I ordered The Oddesy. I want to read the book before the movie. I don’t want to spoil the ending. Is 3,000 years too much to ask?

I remember teaching then moving a whole tone of code from strcpy to strncpy because it was safer. Makes me wonder, how many of these strncpy were changed to memcpy. This would make it less safe in my book. But I'm old what do I know.

Also for most, it’s a highly leveraged investment. At 10% down it has a 9/1 leverage. With a carry cost of 6% of the leverage per year. Anything less than 5.4% growth after inflation , taxes and maintenance effectively wipes out your principal.

I think that this dark age is really shown by the Klingon family. They shun tech and live as simple hunter gatherers. There are people who still have ships. The battle shows how out of date they are.

I have been reading about using the noise framework instead of a standard HTTPS. Since it derives a sender and receiver keys, does it meet your definition?

Well that is just rude for United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Japan, Thailand, Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Brunei, Cambodia, and Morocco. Could you imagine flying in as the King of one of those counties and seeing that.

Me as a kid: Nobody could figure out who Batman was Me as an adult: He drives to crime scenes so he is local. He needs to have a ton of money. He also can’t have a day job as he is up all night. Gee, who could it be?

Wisdom is conflated with willpower. In D&D Wisdom is more an attunement with subtle things. It helps in understanding people, animal handling and attunement with a deity.

Me as a child: How does Batman have time to do everything? Me as an adult: Man, Batman's life is easy. No childcare, eldercare, commuting, long work hours, budgeting ,cooking, cleaning and taking care of a house. He has plenty of time to be a superhero.

There is a game called universal paperclip about an out of control AI that convert the universe into paperclips. I'm currently using the comet browser to have an AI play the game. It's weird.

I'm just looking at the image. Could the graph be any different? I guess it could be flat but without a Y axis, would there be any time in the future where the risk would be less as time goes by? It basely says "As time goes by, risk goes up"

The Coast guard's focus is 200 nautical miles from the coast of the U.S. Anything outside this is international water. The distance from Puerto Rico to Venezuela is about 500 miles. It would be intresting to know the jurisdiction of the boat where the boat was when destroyed.

Me: I'm not a nerd. Anyone else: So how do you keep lists of stuff that needs to be fixed at the house? Me: I'm running my own GitLab container in Proxmox with a private OAuth server to log in and multi site backup. The items are issues under a project named home. Anyone else: Exactly...

Most OS,s updates are signed so unless the attacker has the private key to sign changes, you should be good. You don’t need confidentiality of the patch, just integrity.

I was thinking, could you have a pump with a water float trigger that starts a siphon? You would have to have enough water to fill the tube right past the peak, so you could use a skinny tube.
