I worry that we're all missing the point that Schmidt, a former prosecutor, didn't really care whether it was true or not. His goal was to get it into the right wingosphere where it would live forever. His error was not realizing that people do care about women's sports teams, and team names.

Trump's approval level was at its lowest after he left office in 2020 (it's even lower now). It's incorrect to say the impeachments improved his approval level. It was Garland's failure to bring a criminal case rapidly against Trump that emboldened him and cowed his challengers.

I firmly believe that it *does* do something to impeach Trump again, regardless of the Senate outcome. It's vital to the historical record---to document his crimes and to force Republicans to tie themselves even more to his sinking approval, which in fact was at his lowest after last impeachment.

I'm talking now, not 4 years ago. Good grief. Yeah, it wasn't business as usual back then, when Trump provoked an attack in order to scare off Pence and ruin the certification. I'm glad Jeffries at least rose up enough to impeach then. But now he's meeting with Kushner and talking "affordability".

My position is 100% coherent: Trump is worse a criminal now than when Dems impeached him before, and it needs to be priority #1 to impeach him again. There's many reasons to impeach beyond whether it's possible for the Senate to convict. The biggest is that it must be done for the sake of Justice.
