We live in a world where folks will use Potter as a dogwhistle for right wing politics. I just think culturally we don't exist in a vacuum, people aren't willing to extend that grace to fans as much anymore.

At the end of the day, you have to look at it and go "I liked this persons work, but that persons work doesn't exist in a vacuum." Who they are as a person is in some way or another reflected in the work. And I think alot of people don't want to think about that.

I think when discussing Lovecrafts work you have to discuss the inherit racism because it's sort of intrinsic to his portrayal of the "other". I think most people who discuss Lovecrafts work are open about speaking to it.

Alot of folks in the community are queer folks who are just kinda sick of it being pushed it ever area of society, and to see a billionaire spout hate speech, kinda hard to uncouple from the characters. Although I feel its obvious that they are underage, even if they are sexed up.
