Exactly. What did they think they would accomplish while hating on others?

##socialdeterminantsofhealth are powerful. I have patients who can't afford their medication, new shoes, or are homeless. Of course, these things affect their healing rates and their mental health. I wish everyone had a level playing field. #healthcareforall

Many plantations in the south have been repurposed, and their true history erased. I will not tour their grounds or ever support them. If we had tackled our horrendous history head-on, I believe we would not be in this pickle so many years later. #blm #blackhistory #plantation #healthcareforall

This week, I've been grieving the loss of a student found hanging from a tree on a Mississippi campus. I'm doing what I can to narrow the disparities of health in my community, but there are times like this where it feels like a drop in the bucket. #strangefruit #Mississippi #disparitiesofhealth

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) like heart disease, cancer, lung disease and diabetes account for 7 out of 10 deaths worldwide. NCDs kill 43 million people every year, of whom 18 million are under the age of 70. Preventing NCDs saves lives and protects our future 👉 bit.ly/4pBAcKL #BeatNCDs #UNGA
Large bold text reads: ‘Noncommunicable diseases are the world’s biggest killers.’ Below is an illustration of a tombstone with text pointing to it saying ‘7/10 of the top killers are noncommunicable diseases.’

As a Mississippi doc, the current disparities of health are the residual of slavery and Jim Crow. We can not forget. We must teach all generations about the atrocity that built America. We need to do better. #healthcareforall #diabetes #Mississippi #healthcareisselfcare

The only seasoning MAGA should be allowed is Mayo. MAGA should be turned away from enjoying southern soul food, Latino, African, Middle Eastern, or any other well seasoned food. If you dislike others so much, you don't get to enjoy their food. No seasoning for you. #mayo #seasonedfood

In 2004, shy student me had the opportunity to meet and take a picture with then mayor @governor.ca.gov Newsom has always been a trail blazer. He allowed same gender marriages before the rest of the country. My hope is that his current efforts in CA will trickle into places like MS. #voteblue

Today, I spoke at a local senior center about diabetes and lower extremity health. I was astounded that this community had no grocery store. There was a dollar general and a gas station. The closest grocery store was in next community 20 minutes away. #fooddesert #diabetes #Mississippi

Since we passed the Affordable Care Act, Republicans have tried over and over to repeal it. And over and over, they’ve failed — in part because millions of people now depend on the ACA for quality, affordable health care.

Today, the body of the beloved hospital physician was laid to rest. I hugged his wife and let her know how kind he was to me, how he made me feel listened to, how he respected my opinion, and bragged on me to others. I will cherish that forever. May we all aspire to his kindness and generosity.

As a wound healing and limb salvage specialist in Mississippi, removing Medicaid will lead to more amputations, more families losing their homes, and more deaths. Blood is on this administration's hands. My colleagues and I will do what we can to help the forecasted onslaught of uninsured patients.

Thank you for sharing your story. There are so many similar cases of working folks suddenly losing a job or being underemployed or underinsured. This is very common and can happen to anyone. We need social safety nets.

60 years ago today, Medicaid and Medicare transformed health care in America. Today, the GOP is rolling back access to care to pad the pockets of the wealthy few. We won't stand by while they make care less affordable and our families less healthy. You deserve better.

When folks lose their healthcare: - they don't go to doctors, they die prematurely and leave young children behind that now go into foster care - they go to ER and overwhelm the system - hospitals close, leaving community with no services Blood is on this administration's hands.

What if instead of gutting Medicaid and food assistance, America provided universal healthcare for everyone? What if instead of criminalizing homelessness, they addressed skyrocketing rent prices & income inequality? What if they put the ICE budget into social supports?

I'm in the deep south, and patients and family members do this / say this ALL the time. In a very PC manner, I congratulate THEM in putting in all of the hard work of eating healthy, staying off the injured limb, staying off of tobacco, drinking water and keeping their blood sugar in check.

Being around people who don't look like you, think like you, or pray like you makes you a better person, a more open-minded and tolerant person, a more live and let live type person. Secluding oneself leads to things like calling the police on joggers and bird watchers.

Being a Mississippi doc, I work with communities who have been lacking in adequate care. We are doing our best to help all people stay healthy. If this new bill passes, people will die plain and simple. They should be embarrassed and ashamed, for they are not human.

I took an oath to help all people. A patient's religion, marital status, ethnicity, country of origin, sexual orientation, gender etc has no bearing on their treatment. It is my job to treat people with kindness and help treat them for whatever issue brought them to my door. Simple.

I moved to my adopted state of Mississippi to try to make a dent in all the health disparities. What I find most confusing is that no one wants to talk about what created these issues in the first place. Like Voldemort, slavery is evil and has long-term consequences. #healthcareforall

Due to the big horrible bill, my hospital is not only cutting hours to hourly workers but also removing water, coffee + filters, and treats (in case patients' sugar gets low). Things are getting scary. I also no longer have an assistant. This will mean that I will run behind = burnout. 🙅🍊
