Without indie bookstores, my debut author journey would be a lot different. Support your local indie bookstore this weekend (April 26-27) & pick up a copy of CRUZITA or shop online. Message me about your experience using the Contact Me form at: ashleygranillo.com & I’ll send you a signed bookmark!

I got too excited this morning when I realized I had some 🍓strawberry scented 🍓 body spray to make me smell as cute as my sweater.

In 2025, I get to talk more about my sophomore contemporary MG, CHOIR GRRRL and how I’m writing an emo EP to accompany the book 🖤🖤

When I’m not revising my MG emo book, I’m uploading my soon to be released EP for streaming and wondering if my lyrics are little too emo for being in my mid 30s.

If there is one list I’d like CRUZITA AND THE MARIACHEROS to make it’s your Christmas list. For any kid who has felt disconnected from their heritage, this book is for you. It’s a reminder that you’re not alone in your plight to discovering where you came from and where you’re capable of going.

Mom hyped me and my book up to a white woman at the airport. The woman clutched a book in her arm tight and asked the title of mine. When I told her CRUZITA AND THE MARIACHEROS, she laughed and said: “Oh that [title], I think I’ll pass.” And I wonder how many others do, even when they shouldn’t.

Silly me! I never shared the news; my sophomore MG novel, CHOIR GRRRL, about a young Latina, emo guitarist turned soprano, comes out in 2026 🩷🖤 After a summer with My Chemical Romance and Warped Tour, we are all going to need this book.

It’s a pretty SoCal fall day (we’re in the 70s and there’s a breeze). Soup is on the stove. And my anxiety and depression is boiling. Tears are spilling over my eyes and onto my cardigan. Ah, autumn 🍁

My best advice to anyone would just be to unsubscribe from opinions that don’t serve you, quite like that golf newsletter that you get in your inbox every month that you never asked for in the first place.

Went to pick up some Doc Marten’s from a FB seller’s house. Her elderly parents handled the transaction, and the gentleman was like: “are these shoes for you?” And I said “yup,” to which he said “now you get to be a whole inch taller” 🥲

Why is it that despite throwing away a bunch of stuff, my closet is still bursting at the seams? I haven’t even put anything *new* in it 😭 Also, this is what I choose to do instead of writing. A worthy punishment for my procrastination.

My MG contemporary, Cruzita and the Mariacheros, features Selena as the MC’s gateway to music. So naturally, when I found this jumpsuit, I needed it for book promotions.
