Early voting in Indiana’s midterm elections starts Oct. 6. And when you head to the polls, you have to bring a photo ID. State law requires that ID to have four things, pictured below. As of July 2025, students can’t use their college-issued IDs to check in at the polls.

Mayor Joe Hogsett’s office issued a statement Friday afternoon that indicates he supports tax breaks for the three approved data centers in Indy. Metrobloks could get $56 million in tax breaks for the Martindale Brightwood data center. bit.ly/4fKoDwt

First-time voter Raushan Key, who lives near Southport, said he hopes to elect an honest politician who will fulfill campaign promises. The 18-year-old wants to have a say in changes to AI, education and homelessness. “I want to see people holding their politicians accountable,” Key said.

Clare Roe voted at the Perry Township Government Center because she said she’s unhappy with what’s happening in the world. “I wanna feel like the people that are in power actually care for the people in general,” Roe said. “I want things to be more affordable again.”

Mother and daughter LaTasha Goldsmith, 46, and Myla Roberts, 18, voted together at the Washington Township Government Center. “I had to set a good example for my daughter. I always come out and vote, and I definitely wanted to come out with her since it was her first time,” Goldsmith said.

Chapel Hill/Ben Davis resident Doug Brewington said he believes it’s everyone’s duty to vote — no matter what party they prefer. “Just do a little homework and come out to vote,” he said. “Our forefathers fought for this, and you know you should honor it and take part in the process.”

Marshawn Wolley, a Democrat, voted at the MLK Center. He said he votes in every primary election. “I am extremely angry,” he said. “I think the Democratic Party hasn’t fought nearly as hard as it should have, so I’m frustrated about that. I also appreciated that we have a lot more candidates.”
