Twisted Iron Marks by Hailey Turner My rating: 5 of 5 stars Hailey Turner loves to put both her readers and her characters through the mill - case in point Alexei Dvorkin and Sean Delaney in In the Shadows being the first of many! But with Twisted Iron Marks my lawd has she upped her game to make the viewer very uncomfortable (for me, in the absolute best "I love angst" kinda way) and for very good plot reasons. There's no spoilers in my review for this book, it would be a travesty if someone didn't head into it without complete plot blindness because she's just so very, very good at the intricacies of world building which give you everything you need to know about what's happening in multiple ways.

The Feeder Legacy by Louisa Masters My rating: 5 of 5 stars I absolutely loved this opening entry in Louisa's new vampire paranormal series. The characters are compelling and the idea of someone discovering they belong to a legacy family which provides live blood donations and has zero awareness vampires even exist. Throw in a secondary plot of discontent and someone stirring things up within the vampire community, and you get a book which holds your attention from the start. There's no real romance in this instalment, it's very much setting the scene, establishing the world building and introducing all the necessary players in the game, but there's also the beginnings of a spark between Adam and his vampire Tristan.

New Beginning by Barbara Elsborg My rating: 4 of 5 stars In spite of the traumatic (although in no great detail) beginning, this is a super sweet romance novella. When Teddy dies in a multicar pile up on his way home from his school reunion, the guilt he feels (although it wasn't his fault) is compounded by the fact three of his friends died alongside him. It causes a reaction which sees him stuck in The Drift, a limbo of hellish imagination in which he repeatedly punishes himself for the accident.

The Other Side by Barbara Elsborg My rating: 5 of 5 stars What a fabulous, and fascinating, introduction to this new urban fantasy paranormal series from Barbara Elsborg. She's written some of my favourite paranormal stories so it wasn't a great surprise that this is really great opener with lots of intriguing characters and potential for future stories, set within a reality that feels very close to our own, but with those lurking dangers on the edges. I loved that it's set in the Peak District, an area I'm not overly familiar with, but which I know a bit about, so I felt I was being draw alongside Drum and Osian as they tried to work out how they can overcome the obstacles facing their relationship.

Rookie Moves by Jodi Oliver My rating: 4 of 5 stars I didn't read the earlier incarnation of this when it appeared in a charity anthology so I'm just basing my thoughts on this expanded story. That it's a duology is something I wasn't aware of and it does make sense that Jodi wanted to devote more time to telling Colby and Tyler's story as they're only 19 and 22 when this book takes place. This first instalment does wrap up the opening part of their relationship without leaving any cliffhangers and it's a very definite HFN but there is so much more to be told and I'm very much intrigued by what comes next.

The Spare Affair by Ella Frank & Brooke Blaine My rating: 4 of 5 stars Chances are if you enjoyed book one in this duology, you'll like this one just as much because the basic premise follows a similar pattern, just this time it's two princes. I liked both Alejandro and Gabriel, their spark was obvious from the off and the hate attraction worked perfectly as the vehicle for all their snarking and game playing. Once they broke the distance they'd been trying to keep, it became a very spicy story full of secret encounters, pirate sex play and more smart mouthing.

Sigh of Relief: A Table for Two Novella by Layla Reyne My rating: 4 of 5 stars I've been curious about Elton Morris since he first appeared in the Whiskeyverse and it's an inspired move to pair him up with Archer Scott from the Table for Two novella series! Maybe everything seems like it could appear to happen a bit quickly, especially given the 15 year time gap since the first time their paths crossed, but in Layla's skillful hands, the connection between the two men is established in the single glance they had during a Kink party.

Dragon's Ending: MM paranormal romance by Joy Lynn Fielding My rating: 5 of 5 stars Another fabulous entry in this series from Joy which mixes Arthurian mythology into the many different legends about dragons which have shaped the past within what's now the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Here we're in Wales, with white dragon historian Ben Berstow, whose dragon family only just came out of hiding earlier in the series.

Axe Backwards by May Archer My rating: 5 of 5 stars Straight onto my Favourite Book list for this one, it had me smiling from start to finish and actually laughing out loud on numerous occasions. I don't want to give too much away but the scenes at camp when Merritt takes Holden with him as his fake fiancé for the annual family get together are inspired madness!

Pieces of You by Cara Dee My rating: 4 of 5 stars Behind the scenes of Shay's kidnapping from the POV of those left at McLean House makes this an angsty read. I very much enjoy these filling in novellas that Cara's released for The Game Series. They add a lot of information, and probably a lot of cut scenes that never made the official releases for each story, which brings much more depth and emotional connection.

The Boyfriend Proposal: A Fake Dating, Small Town MM Romance by Felice Stevens My rating: 4 of 5 stars I enjoyed this romance so much and it very much felt like a return to the small town series vibes of book one versus the more romantic suspense feel of the second one. While on the surface it begins like a typical fake dating romance with plenty of opposites' attract on the side, what it turns out to be is much more of a finding your home in commonality as Jaxon and Theo discover their backgrounds are not that dissimilar.

Tracking Wolfe by Lucy Lennox My rating: 5 of 5 stars I absolutely adored this romance, I couldn't put it down and managed to read it in a few hours because I loved Wolfe & Trace so much. We've met Trace before, in Tommy Marian's Rescuing Dr. Marian because he owns and runs the SARS training centre, but Wolfe Marian's been a bit more of a mystery until this book.

Being English though, I don't have the same fascination with Royalty as perhaps those who don't live in a country with one do, so I found myself spending a whole lot of the book thinking to myself that Noah's role was pretty much that of a Valet, not a Footman.

A Match Made in Slumber by Kasia Bacon My rating: 5 of 5 stars Novellas like this are why I call Kasia Bacon my Queen of the Fantasy Romance Short Story because how she manages to give the reader such a comprehensive and well-rounded narrative in so few pages is magical. Just like this story is magical. Part of the shared world multi-author Marriage Market Misadventures universe, this also pulls in a character from Kasia's utterly brilliant Order Universe (highly recommend).

Ethan by Beth Bolden My rating: 4 of 5 stars Pretty sure it's a me thing but I'd expected more from this one than what I got. Not that what I got was bad by any stretch of the imagination, this is an incredibly well told romance between two engaging characters with Beth's usual excellent sports knowledge giving great backup to the main story threads.
