Sometimes I look at the art on my walls and think about how the idea of art may be older than the idea of walls.

Any of those underwater aliens have a tragic past, cold and secretive exterior, but a loyal and soft poetic heart? Bonus points if they're also an assassin with a terminal illness

Anyway, this new platform has me OVERSHARING. Go read a book. It's the most loving act I know!!!

Miranda Quesnel ⚔️ @mirggles.bsky.social · 19/11/2024

Reading has taught me it's okay to be happy even though nothing is fixed. It's okay to think about fantasy lands and give your mind and spirit time to process things indirectly. It's human to seek out art and poetry when your spirit is waning.

Miranda Quesnel ⚔️ @mirggles.bsky.social · 19/11/2024

This may be obvious to some but I think somewhere along the way I believed that if I had any moment of happiness or relief or just... If I didn't constantly ruminate about stuff it meant I was a bad person??? It's a simplification but I don't think it's far off.

Miranda Quesnel ⚔️ @mirggles.bsky.social · 19/11/2024

For a couple hours a day, or sometimes the whole day, sometimes the whole day and night, my mind was no longer trained on obsessive rumination, but on Patroclus and Achilles, William Stoner and his life, Draco and Harry falling in love over and over 40 times lmfao

110

Miranda Quesnel ⚔️ @mirggles.bsky.social · 19/11/2024

my brain is just sorta not always a safe happy place (it has been an effective torturer over the years lmfao) but when I read, I realised I give it a job. Then my imagination, so keenly trained to tell me stories all about how life won't work out, suddenly has to imagine ancient mythological greece

Last year I got back into reading- like frequently and consistently reading for the first time in my adult life, and hahaha I swear to God I'm not joking when I say this, it's actually changed my life?

what if your ideas are as in love with you as you are with them? what if your creativity spends its days dreaming about you too? what if art is a co-creation between you (the vessel) & the eternal source of all things? what if this act of making is the universe experiencing itself through you?

in a dramatic turn of events I accidentally wrote two books this year so if you're in your twenties and don't know what you are going to do with your life, you never know what fanfic will do to you in your thirties, it truly can't be planned for
