Binge-reading Octavia Butler’s ‘Lilith’s Brood’ trilogy - she glues you to the story and shake you to the core, and before you know it you are somehow rooting for aliens that want to take human genes. Miraculous writing! #booksky 💙📚

Octavia Butler - Adulthood Rites - the second part of the Liliths Brood trilogy. Butler is a master in constantly shifting the moral frame of her stories, keeping the readers questioning their own beliefs 💙 #booksky 💙📚

Sujuy Ja’ - Agua Sagrada performance last month in the Mayan village Maní with the amazing Socorro Loeza Flores. In 1562 the Spanish burned Mayan books in the convent of Maní, destroying a lot of indigenous knowledge. In 2009, finally, the Franciscan brothers of the convent apologized.

“Children of the days” No one writes like Eduardo Galeano. Every story is filled to the brim with violence and injustice, yet he continues to look at history, and how we humans move inside it, with kind and tender eyes. #booksky 💙📚

Sujuy Ja’ - Agua Sagrada in Xocen, performed under sacred ceiba-trees. There is a Maya story of a sacred thread that holds the world together, with its cultures and people. The thread was broken in colonial times, but the pieces are still kept, waiting for us to re-unite them 🪡 #greensky

Visionary words on the meat-industry from 1998: “We live in a perpetual state of repressed panic, paralyzed by bad knowledge, from which the only escape is playing dumb. Ignorance becomes empowering because it enables people to live. Stupidity becomes proactive, a political statement.” #booksky 💙📚

Ancient stories for modern times. The cenote of Mani in the Yucatán. According to Mayan prophecies the last water of the world will be kept here, guarded by a goddess. To receive a cup of water, those guilty of the water-shortage will need to sacrifice their children 💧 #greensky
