This is also the first table I ever physically modified in VPX! I made the flippers more visible since they blended in with the playfield too much for me. I probably would've done what I did to get there differently now, but it still works pretty well I think!

Dreamt I tried to play a pinball machine set extremely tall by stacking a stool on a chair. Dreams sometimes try all they can to prevent me from actually playing arcade games, but I still made a bunch of ramp shots and extracted a bunch of dopamine, so the chair stack won tonight.

One thing I like a lot about Radical! is the criminally underutilized feature of reactive music in a pinball machine. The lead guitar singing over every different shot is so cool. I'd love a spin on a Band pin with this idea where they write phrases or solos over their existing (or original) music!

Played The Getaway today and during the multiball, I threw the ball into the big hotwheel-looking ramp and it looped around while I was doing other multiball stuff and the resulting euphoria made me see some kind of otherworldly force? I get why people like this table now.

Spent a few hours doing performance tweaks so I could play funny ball game better while also not turning my computer into molten steel. CPU wasn't throttling as much as it could've and now VPX plays noticeably more responsively! VPW Monster Bash's lighting is still a hog, but its at a 15fps boost!

Listening to Wedgeheads episode on Dan Forden & its fascinating to hear the history and process with making the music for all these iconic pins. Of note, it was inspiring to hear him talk about discovering techniques like 2 channel echo as he went along. It feels similar to my own journey with chip.

Oh man, I keep going back to the vpw version and this port of it hates me, I swear. I remember getting to Monster Bash mode back to back to back on a real cab and it took me three days to reach it once and get this just kinda okay score. Different machines etc etc but like aaaaaaaaa

In local spaces, I've gotten a few compliments on my dead bounces and occasionally asked how I look for them. So I made a lil graphic of what I look out for! This applies to both Real and Vpins, the majority of my playtime is on VPX but I absolutely think this applies to both! Hope this is helpful!

The flippers of Monster Bash, with the left side colored to sections of the top of the flipper. Underneath is a legend that goes over what the colors mean.

red: The "Uhoh!" zone! Don't try to dead bounce here, its very risky at best, will do the silliest, saddest flop over to the other side. Try other saves. Note: If the flipper is raised, the tip of the flipper is great for passing it over to the other side!

green: The "Yippie!" zone! Leads to an ideal dead bounce! Don't panic flip, the ball will typically make its way to the other side and roll down at a pace thats easy to attempt a good shot. It also feels great!

yellow:The "Wild!" zone! You're usually good to dead bounce here too! but be careful as the trajectory could be a bit bouncier than the green zone, and depending on the layout, bounce into sling territory (Bad!).

purple: The ambiguous "What the hell!? I swear the ball hit the rubber there, why did it just slide off!?" zone! If the ball hits the inlane part and not the flipper, it usually doesn't bounce. Either get ready to flip on that side, or try shielding/cradling.
