I figured out what those gradients on metal really are. 🤔 They seem to be stylized reflections of the surroundings. Understanding the basis of stylization lets you apply it in different ways. You can adjust the detail depending on its size on screen. #art #oc #arttips

Light scatters in different ways. Rayleigh scattering strongly scatters blue light. Mie scattering has little difference between colors, so it tends to appear achromatic. Rayleigh scattering makes the sky look blue🟦, while Mie scattering makes clouds look white.☁️ #art #arttips

It may be a good idea to start with the eyes when detailing. Starting with the area you want viewers to focus on most—the area you want to render in the most detail—can help you work outward, simplifying everything else. Adding details endlessly can be tricky. #art #oc #arttips

WIP I’ve finished the value study for now. Lately, I’ve been keeping the value and color stages clearly separate. I feel that tackling them one at a time significantly lowers the difficulty compared to thinking about values and color simultaneously. #WIP #Art #OC

I bought compression gloves for drawing.✏️🧤 They make it harder to bend my fingers, so I can’t grip my pen tightly. This may be good, as it makes me move my arm rather than my hand. The downside is itchy marks from the seams. I’ll keep using them for a while.
