Before I moved to the US I used to take a one stop train from my town to the next town over for work, it was about 25 minutes, dead end each way so we would sleep on the train and the conductor would wake us up at each end! A sleeper train to chicago would be sold out months in advance.

I've spent 2026 rarely driving and biking everwyehere I could including a few grocery store trips. I would never reccomend living car free in this country but a small car to be used when needed is the goal. Just suggesting this life to people ends up with me being treated as some kind of monster.

If Stillwater figured out a way to close it's main street to cars (by building multiple park and ride lots with high frequency minibusses) it would become an even greater toursit destination Currently its fun but way too loud due to traffic and the thin sidewalks can't handle the number of people

A reminder that Alcohol is a carcinogen and the US alcohol lobby got the CDC to remove reccomended drinking limits of 1 drink a day for women and 2 for men from dietary guidelines. Along wtih this, the CDC buried a scientific study proving 1 drink a day inflates cancer risk. Buy a bike instead.
