Before I knew it, my follower count on Pixiv had surpassed 1,000, but I’ve never once received a nasty DM saying things like my fan art looks like an official reproduction or that my interpretation is wrong. Pixiv is very peaceful

I posted that I’d finished the plot for my original comic and was starting the series, and even though people were probably thinking, “Wait, who even is this?” I still got so many reactions. You guys are so nice~! I’ll keep working hard on my original stuff too~ (About half of it is fictional.)

I love drawing illustrations, but lately I’ve been so fed up with all the “AI, AI” fuss in the fan art community. I use tons of 3D models and free assets too, so it can feel frustrating. That’s why I sometimes escape into my original comic essays—my own style, and no comparisons to official art.

I use 3D models as a base, but I’ve been thinking that I’m not really tracing them anyway—the lines end up being pretty different from the actual model. For multi-page manga, though, treating the 3D as a rough sketch and drawing from there definitely makes things a lot more efficient.

I got tired of searching for free background images, so I decided to draw my own instead. It might not have the same polished, refined look you often see in manga, but I actually feel that keeping the character outlines a little rough and loose helps the whole piece feel more cohesive.

WIP I usually use a 3D model as a base, but this time I tried doing a quick sketch myself first and then worked it into the final line art.Since it takes quite a bit of time to draw rough sketches and finish fan art, using 3D models saves time, which is a huge help for busy people like me.

I’m sure machine translation loses some of the finer nuances, but since I understand English well enough, I can tweak it myself. So I guess it’s not too bad. If it were a language I didn’t understand at all, I’d probably just trust the translation as-is, and the result would be an absolute mess🫠

I’ve been continuing to draw JINMAO fanart and manga lately, and I’ll be posting some of them here from time to time. I have quite a backlog of manga, but translating them into English is harder than I expected… 😅 And machine translation doesn’t always come out right!
