A best practice for short form video is also an anti best practice for accessibility... displaying 3 words at a time for the captions. Because the goal is to constantly stimulate you with a few new words on the screen. If you're locked into the captions, then you're locked into the video

I am not a Marvel fan boy. I want both Marvel and DC to do well, but DC keeps sticking to Superman and Batman or characters associated with them. It's boring. Whatever happened to shows like Static Shock and the Zeta Project. Although they're from the 2000s, bringing them back could be refreshing.

Okay so, I'm still a baby game dev. I was following a tutorial on how to make enemies turn around automatically. The tutorial told me to put a timer on the enemies. I didn't like that. I figured out how to make them turn around when they touch other enemies or walls! Yay!

Hot take... It's true that Soccer is technically Football. So, should American Football be called Foot & Handball? Should it be called Tackleball? Should it be called Wrestleball? Because the contact between the foot and ball plays a much minor role than it does in Soccer/Football.

So, Valve has gotta do what they gotta do, but don't sell the Steam Machine anymore. It's gotta cost more than the Steam Deck, but at that price, not many will buy it. Sell the parts, repurpose them, but it doesn't make sense to me to try to sell the Steam Machine with where the prices are at now

Dead as Disco is a really cool concept BUT has two major problems. #1 No visual indicator for the rhythms. Only rhythm masters can land hits accurately without this. #2 Infinite Disco requires you to know the rhythm of the songs you're calibrating. Again, I'm flawed here, and so will the calibration

I think the current era of kart racing games are a little too chaotic to me. It feels like it's too much about getting as many items as possible. Rolling the dice as much as you can. That means driving skill is less important. I think I'd enjoy a kart racing game that is more limiting and strategic.

Played a game called Eggs of Steel for PS1 yesterday. It looks terrible but its surprisingly more fun than expected. This game went hard on the cutscenes and the flavor is super goofy. I actually love it haha:

A retro game I was surprised to enjoy yesterday was Top Gear 2 for SNES. The perspective can be a little jarring when you're going up hills and its difficult to get passed that first race, but once you do, there are a lot of upgrade paths and they do good job of conveying speed

I've been playing a lot of Plok lately. It's a platformer for the SNES. Bads: Obstacle indication, bullet helly sometimes, might find it ugly Good: The music is awesome, most levels and bosses have clear differences, weird in an interesting way.

Last week, I think my favorite game that I played was Roll Away (aka: Kulaworld) for the PS1. Never heard of this game until yesterday. The premise is really simple. You move a ball, grab keys, get to the exit. But, your center of gravity can change if you roll passed certain edges

I set a goal on Twitch and with chat's help, we achieved it. It's the first time I set a monetary goal ($100). I definitely feel weird about it, but it was because I sunk like $2800 into something I only use for stream, so I felt justified in setting a goal to try to get some of that back.

Last week, I'd say my favorite retro game was F-Zero X for N64. I don't think my brain is big enough to play that game well, but they really conveyed the speed in that game. In one moment, I felt like I was driving in a washing machine Lol. But, it was fun overall.

Last week, retro game I really enjoyed was Tenchu Stealth Assassins for the PS1. When I was in high school, I did not appreciate the OST enough. And, for PS1, the movement is pretty fun. I felt pretty ninja while playing this game. I need to come back and beat it.

Spiderman 2 for the Gameboy Color technically isn't a BS game to play but it's extremely simple and easy. Each enemy is largely the same. Stand next to them, attack them, they die. The game makes it very easy to know where to go by constantly directing you while you idle. But, no challenge is no fun

This is my first retro game of the week. I think the retro game I enjoyed the most last week was Astro Boy: Omega Factor for GBA. You have mobility and iframe options, combat options with clear trade offs, plenty of super options and a boss I enjoyed but couldn't beat in 30 min. Lol.

I opened up my 8bitdo Pro 2 Controller to swap buttons. I can't close it. Nearby game shop will charge $35 to do it. I can buy the same controller for $40. Out of principle, I bought the controller instead. Closing up that controller properly will just be my little experiment I guess.
