Just managed to rescue my wife's crypto at the last moment from the Portis wallet I had set up for her a couple of years ago. Portis is shutting down, but there's no mention of it on their site, no email, no nothing. I did not get this message, but only found it by chance on the net.

"Imagine you're at a party. A guy offers you a drink. You say no. He says 'Come on, one drink!' You say 'no thanks.' Later, he brings you a soda. 'I know you said you didn't want a drink, but I was getting one for myself and you looked thirsty. For you to refuse at this point makes you the asshole. He's just being nice,
right? Predators use the social contract and our own good hearts and fear of being rude against us. If you drink the drink, you're teaching him that it just takes a little persistence on his part to overcome your 'no.' If you say 'Really, I appreciate it, but no thanks' and put the drink down and walk away from it, you're the one who looks rude in that moment.
But the fact is, you didn't ask for the drink and you don't want the drink and you don't have to drink it just to make some guy feel validated."

We're still moving ahead with the process of buying a house. Which is a bit slow. Actually it is not very slow, but it feels slow, because I'd like to get it through and over with, as I have many plans and things to do.

The Tesla dealer in my town, Toulouse. The French like to set things on fire, particularly cars, and in Toulouse more than anywhere. I have no issue with the choice of target in this case.

Right. Actual rights would be something that can't just be taken away by some new guy being elected. I wonder what that might look like.
Listen, if a Bad President can come in and take away our rights and we're dependent on a Good President replacing them in four years to give us back our rights, then we do not have any rights.
If politicians can take or distribute them, then they're not "inalienable" and they're not "rights."
We don't have inalienable rights we have conditional privileges, divvied out according to the whims of whoever currently holds the reins.
And if we want to have actual rights, then we must build a system in which no one has the power to take them away to begin with.

The chart that came with the device is helpful. AC EF is the Electrical Field from AC connected devices, in the 50/60Hz range. Turns out I have over 50V/m both where I'm working and where I'm sleeping, because of the devices that are nearby.

I got an RF/EMF meter to check the electromagnetic pollution in my house. The worst offenders are not necessarily the things I would imagine. The AC EF on this webcam on my desk is really bad. As it is for several power adapters and power distributors. Phones and computers, not too bad, it seems.

"if you oppose "DEl," you should have to use the full phrase instead of the letters. Be brave and say, "I oppose diversity, equity, and inclusion."
Bonus points if you admit which part of that you don't like.
Making it an acronym transforms it into a
thought-terminating cliche.
From now on, be proud of your opinions, but be specific. Let everyone know if it's diversity you don't like, or if it's equity, or if it's being inclusive"

To me, polyamory means that I don't have to experience guilt for feeling affection.
There are so many kind and wonderful people out there, and I know I'd be missing out on connections that improve my life if I strictly controlled who l'm allowed to love.

When I go outside it is so calm. Hardly any neighbors, just a few birds, some horses, a gentle wind. Quiet French countryside. And yet, I forget that it is like that, and I don't actually go outside all that much, even though it regenerates me.

I believe that
A car going 5mph slower than surrounding traffic has a higher accident risk due to speed differentials and driver frustration. This risk is often greater than that of a car traveling 5mph faster than surrounding traffic.

Well said
Your partner is allowed to have meaningful relationships with other people.

Your partner is allowed to get things from those relationships they don't get from you.

Demanding you being the only source of pleasure and support in their life is possessive and toxic.

Even if you're monogamous. This is not just for polyamorous people. Your partner is allowed to have fulfilling friendships outside of you. Your partner is allowed to turn to other people to help meet their needs. Demanding that they only come to you is unrealistic, toxic, possessive, and an unhealthy dynamic. The narrative that your partner should get everything from you - and you get everything from them - is a harmful product of bad rom coms. Don't fall for it.
