My latest gaming hyperfixation is Ingress, and recently I found it was possible to make a 4-layer homogeneous field around a local(ish) park, so last night we went and did it :D The whole triangle is 4 layers of fields on top of each other. Hella nerdy? Yes. But it's getting me out of the house.

My new girlfriend just opened the maltesers box like this. I'm not okay.

472 days of peak streak for @retroachievements.org, and it's over. It's a shame it had to happen this way, but it's probably for the best. This is the longest streak I've probably ever done at anything ever, and I am very proud of it. But time to move on. New challenges await.

...And with that, my streak comes to an end. I totally blanked and the high stress I'm going through at the moment made me completely miss the deadline. It's been an honour to streak with you all for the last 472 days of my life. It's an accomplishment I'm proud of, but I knew this day would come eventually. It's a shame that it had to happen this way, but it's probably for the best with where my life is at at the moment.

I'm going to take a little time off mastering games to step back and get in some healing.

Feel like I'm deep in the TCG rabbit hole. Friend helped me put together this deck based on the Belle enchanted I pulled. Going to enter set champs with it tomorrow, my hopes and expectations are both low but if I can win a single game with a deck I had SOME input into, I'll consider that a win.

365 days of Peak Streak, COMPLETE. Technically 366 because my first didn't count. I don't know how I've managed this honestly. Every single day since 1st May 2024 I've mastered a game on RetroAchievements. That's kind of ridiculous to think about. Well, now what do I do with my life? Carry on?

Today's Pokémon Red solo challenge: Caterpie! I think this is my first ever 100 point achievement, heck yeah. The true final boss was Rock Tunnel. With no battle items allowed, your ONLY resource in battle is Tackle. Mindless and a bit grindy, but short. Final level 55, moves Tackle / String Shot.

Did a solo no-battle-items challenge run of Red with Onix Not the worst run, but early damage is real slow. The main danger is Lorelei and Rival's Gyarados. Definitely relied on getting lucky with a Rock Slide crit or Hydro Pump miss Final level 85, moves Dig / Rock Slide / Earthquake / Body Slam

Happy December! The Dezcember tree is officially up. I think I need to throw more plushies at it. And I think I underestimated how many lights I'd need.

Day 205: Ayakashi no Shiro on Gameboy. A pretty traditional dungeon crawler RPG. It's got a decent gameplay loop to it, and a decent balance system that has you going from massively underleveled to easily beating enemies every time you go to a new dungeon. Felt nice making some maps!

Day 204: Dog's Muck Island. Very short indie gameboy game on itch, feels like a bit of a prototype of interaction mechanics in the form of a short trade quest sequence. There's a fortune teller if you ever don't know where to go, but there's an achievement for not using her.

Day 203: Continuing the Addams Family theme with Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt on Gameboy. Similar vein of platformer, but one that's INCREDIBLY generous with the lives. Much more of an exploration focus as areas sometimes loop back on each other. Not sure why Pugsley's eyes are like that though.

Day 202: The Addams Family on Gameboy. Fairly straightforward platformer, each boss killed saves a family member and gives you a new weapon. Some weapons are required to complete areas but that's not always obvious until you get to a point and can't progress. No-death achievement was a challenge.

Day 201: Noobow on Gameboy. Kind of puzzle-y platformer? But a very simple form of it, you just pick up an item and use it on something to cause something to happen that opens up some progress. Kinda cute, and some of the levels are a bit labyrinthine, but nothing too challenging.

Day 200: Pokemon Red Version [Subset: Professor Oak Challenge]. Gimmick here is that before fighting a gym leader, you have to have caught every possible accessible pokemon before them. For example this means training a Pidgey up to level 36 to get Pidgeot before fighting Brock. Very grindy but fun.
