I was going on a hike today but the plans changed, turns out my body wants a hike anyway. Doing something light just for fresh mountain air and a nice lunch!

Google Pixel has a feature where it registers songs that are playing in a now playing app. My music taste is so niche that it records the Fire brigade Tatü Tata more often than any song I ever play.

This is not a drill. Saturday is Unity Day. The shops in Germany will be closed or otherwise pretending it's a Sunday. I'm taking the opportunity to do my shopping this evening, which is about as big brain as I can get.

My 12th year in Germany starts soon and as always I'm allowing myself to be nostalgic. For me, the years in Germany start in Autumn, not dissimilar to school years. This is probably because my first visit here, now 23 years ago, was in September 2003.

I saw this picture the other day, and I'm cautious of overdoing weightloss and fitness content here, but the picture made me go "what the heck". Roughly two years apart, my Oktoberfest Lederhosen problem is pretty clear. The lederhosen were bought to fit the guy in the first pic not the second.

Matthias is back today. First time since May. He's lost a bit of weight and the lederhosen barely fit him anymore

Growing up near a town called Maidenhead, which always seemed unremarkable, I find it increasingly funny that there's a metal covers band who opted to use the same name, obviously because it connects Iron Maiden with Motorhead.

Aching a bit today. I did a hike from Eschenlohe to Osterfeuerberg yesterday.
This image shows an individual wearing an orange short-sleeved t-shirt while hiking in a scenic mountainous regionAn panoramic, eye-level shot captures a lush green valley nestled between rolling hills and distant mountains under a partly cloudy sky. The valley is filled with vibrant green fields, patches of trees, and a small town with houses featuring reddish roofs. A long, winding road cuts through the valley floor. In the foreground, dense green pine trees and tall, dry grass partially frame the view from the left and right sides. The distant mountains fade into a hazy blue, blending with the skyA scenic, wide-angle shot of a lush mountain valley under a bright blue sky filled with wispy, white cirrus clouds. On the left, densely forested, green mountain slopes roll down into the valley. In the distant center, layers of softer blue mountain peaks fade into a light haze. The right side of the frame features the detailed, green branches of a tall evergreen tree, partially framing the panoramic landscape. An asphalt pathway stretches through a vibrant green meadow lined with simple fences. Tall, dense pine forests flank both sides of the path, leading the eye toward a pointed mountain peak in the distance. Above, a bright sun shines through wispy contrails streaking across a clear blue sky.

I discovered the collage feature. Had fun at Drug Church yesterday!
A three-part vertical collage captures a live music concert featuring Hippie Trim, Liquid Mike, and Drug Church performing on stage at the Strom venue. The top section depicts a five-piece punk rock band playing under bright stage lights, highlighted by a lead vocalist wearing a distinctive chainmail hood. The middle section shows an indie rock performance featuring a musician playing a brass trombone alongside a guitarist against a vibrant red-lit backdrop. The bottom section showcases an energetic punk band with multiple guitarists and a dynamic lead singer performing under intense purple and green stage illumination for an engaged, crowded audience.

Last year I gave away my denim jacket that I was too big for. I reckon today I'd fit into it. I've got mixed feelings about this. I'd probably like to wear a different jacket. I genuinely didn't think I'd ever fit into it again. It's all very funny.

Two bands I've loved for the longest of times, Alkaline Trio and Rise Against, both from Chicago, just released a split single where they cover each other. I'd have loved a few more songs, but happy this is a thing. Rise Against absolutely nailed theirs.

Short story, something about that hike last year made me really unhappy, I recognised it this year while journaling, which I've not really gotten the hang of. I set myself the goal, as I'm getting fitter, in better shape, and losing weight, I'll climb Herzogstand, properly. Goal met. ✅

Today I defeated my demons and climbed Herzogstand, and it meant a lot to me. I'm proud of how far I've come along this year. Last year I struggled to get to the Restaurant in 3 hours, giving up on the rest of the hike. Today I was at the peak in under that time.
A man stands on a mountain peak overlooking a large blue lake nestled in a valley. The man is smiling and facing the camera, wearing an orange t-shirt, grey shorts, sunglasses, and a baseball cap. He is holding hiking poles in his left hand. The background features a vast landscape with green fields, forested hills, and a clear blue sky with a few scattered clouds. A large wooden summit cross stands on a rocky mountain peak against a bright blue sky with a few white clouds. Several hikers are gathered around the base of the cross and along a trail, enjoying the panoramic view of distant rolling mountains and green valleys below. Guy-wires extend from the top of the cross down to the ground to stabilize it.A wide-angle, high-angle panoramic view looking down from a high mountain summit on a clear day with a vibrant, deep blue sky and scattered white clouds. Far below, a bright turquoise, irregularly shaped alpine lake sits nestled between forested green hills and a flat valley patchwork of agricultural fields and small villages. Rugged, rocky mountain ridges extend along the right side of the frame, overlooking the vast landscape that stretches toward a hazy, flat horizon.

Given the main source of joy for me in Germany is cute old-town areas, I probably should get around to moving out of Munich.
A scenic, low-angle view of the colorful waterfront buildings along the Neckar River in Tübingen, Germany.A row of traditional multi-story houses with steeply pitched roofs and vibrant facades in shades of yellow, pink, and white stands beneath a vast, bright blue sky filled with a dense pattern of white, fluffy altocumulus clouds. The spire of a historic church rises behind the buildings. In the foreground, vibrant hanging flower baskets filled with red, pink, and yellow blossoms frame the left and center of the shot. A crowd of people gathers along the riverside promenade at the bottom of the frame, enjoying the sunny day.

I've made discovering new records my hobby this year, pouring my heart and energy into music. I didn't expect to be listening to Russian Language Progressive Post Hardcore today, or Polish 5th Wave Emo, but here I am. I'm not going to exclude artists due to where they are from or their language.

What do you all do with stickers? I've got some cool German Emo/DIY ones and my collection is getting bigger. I used to put them in a scrap book, like Football Stickers, but it feels like they should be on display more prominently, such as on the bathroom walls.
A close-up photograph displays three music-related stickers arranged on a dark, reflective countertop with a speckled pattern. On the left, a vertical rectangular sticker features a black-and-white photograph of a person leaning down, with the stylized text "zeitstrafe" printed in a white arch at the top. On the top right, a cream-colored square sticker shows a brown floral graphic, with the word "rhineline" printed at the top and "emo" at the bottom. Below it, a bright yellow bumper sticker-style graphic displays the text "BETWEEN BODIES" in small white font above the large, prominent text "emohhhh" in orange and red lettering.

The only feelings I have for Monday is the mild ache in my legs from yesterday. Photos from Sonnenspitz overlooking Kochelsee. Returning to the area to tackle my past nemesis Herzogstand in a few weeks.
A high-angle, wide landscape shot taken from the Sonnenspitz summit, looking down at the vibrant blue-green waters of Lake Kochel (Kochelsee). The expansive lake fills the center of the frame, mirroring the bright white, puffy cumulus clouds drifting across a vibrant blue sky. To the left, dense, forested dark green mountains slope steeply down to the water's edge. To the right and stretching into the far distance, the landscape transitions into a flat, checkerboard pattern of green agricultural fields, pastures, and small Bavarian villages. Dark green pine foliage frames the bottom edge of the view, capturing the natural overlook experienceA scenic daytime view looking across dense pine forests toward the rugged, green-covered slopes of the Jochberg mountain peak, captured from the hiking trail near the Sonnenspitz summit in Bavaria, Germany.Silhouette-style side profile of a male hiker wearing a cap, backpack, orange shirt, and shorts. He stands atop a rocky, root-filled peak at Sonnenspitz, overlooking distant rolling hills and a wide valley under a bright blue sky.

I rescued my dropbox data. Most importantly its got the multitrack recordings of 4 song demos from 2012-2013 I did with my band, and the live recordings we did for a local radio station including an unreleased song. It was fun poking around at these yesterday. I haven't really done music since.

I went back here yesterday and although the deposit on glass bottles is clearly written as €0.50, paid back as a refund to your card, I'm convinced the girl behind the counter said it was €0.15. I wonder if this is conscious? It feels unlikely I misheard it twice.
