I'm actually kind of amazed at how badly the bill is written. Especially this part

This is a remarkable story.
Text from article: Here the historical record forces us to confront a remarkable fact. Johnson was an enslaved man in Pennsylvania, surrounded by a victorious Union army, with every opportunity to walk away. He stayed. He nursed Carter through nearly three weeks of suffering until the lieutenant colonel died on July 21.

It is tempting to read Johnson’s decision through the Lost Cause lens of the faithful slave, and postwar Confederate memory did exactly that with men like him. But loyalty to a dying man is not loyalty to slavery and Johnson’s next decision makes the distinction unmistakable.

With Carter dead and his obligations, however he understood them, discharged, Johnson did not return to Texas and to bondage. He traveled instead to Baltimore to begin a new chapter of his life as a free man. That freedom proved heartbreakingly brief.

If you feel compelled to do so yourself, you probably have a good cause to report it if you are getting calls on your cell phone. I know laws are currently fake but this is infuriating bullshit to deal with around every election. consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us
Screenshot from https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/political-campaign-robocalls-and-robotexts-rules stating: Political Robocall Restrictions
Political campaign-related autodialed or prerecorded voice calls, including autodialed live calls, autodialed texts, and prerecorded voice messages, are prohibited to cell phones, pagers, or other mobile devices without the called party's prior express consent. The same restrictions apply to protected phone lines such as emergency or toll-free lines, or lines serving hospitals or similar facilities.

Political campaign-related autodialed or prerecorded voice calls are permitted when made to landline telephones, even without prior express consent.

Regarding artificial intelligence (AI), the FCC has declared that calls made with AI-generated voices are considered "artificial" under the TCPA, making voice cloning technology used in common robocall scams illegal in many cases. The ruling followed an investigation into illegal robocalls made to New Hampshire voters that used AI-generated deepfake voice technology.

Artificial or rerecorded voice messages must include certain identification information:

The identity of the individual, or other entity initiating the call must be clearly stated at the beginning of the prerecorded message.
If the calling party is a corporate entity, the entity's official business name must be stated clearly at the beginning of the message.
The telephone number of the calling party must be provided, either during or after the message.

A major capital murder trial in Alabama resulted in a conviction on lesser included charges. It is the reason many charges in Alabama no longer include the right to bond. Most articles are just saying there was a conviction. AL.com decided not to pretend they weren't biased towards a certain result.

Looks like one of the Alabama attorneys who was reprimanded for AI use when representing the Alabama Department of Corrections only received a public reprimand.
Photo with the following text: Public Reprimand
Huntsville, Alabama attorney Matthew Brett Reeves, was issued a Public Reprimand with General Publication by the Disciplinary Commission of the Alabama State Bar on March 6, 2026, for violating Rules 1.1 [Competence], 3.3 [Candor Toward the Tribunal], and 8.4(d) and (g) [Misconduct], Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct. On July 23, 2025, United States District Judge Anna Manasco entered a sanctions order against Reeves and other lawyers in his firm. At the time, Reeves was employed by a law firm who was retained to represent the State of Alabama in litigation involving the Department of Corrections (“DOC”). In representing DOC, Reeves used the Artificial Intelligence tool ChatGPT to assist him in drafting two (2) separate motions. Some of the legal citations Reeves listed in the motions were false. The false citations were generated by ChatGPT and are commonly referred to as “hallucinations.” Reeves failed to verify whether all the citations generated by ChatGPT were accurate.

I can't get over the terrible framing in the headline. It's a poll with wild language that saw a 10% increase in a subset with a margin of error of +/- 3.4% and a solid majority still thought terrorist organization was the more accurate label.
Two line graphs are displayed with the title "More young Americans think Hamas is 'militant resistance'"

Both contain a line graph displaying the total results where in 2024 it went from 20 to 23 percent. The first graph has the 18-29 year old respondent results where it increased from 33 to 43 percent with the total results. The second graph has 30+ year old's results that went from 17 to 18 percent with the total results.

Under the graphs it states: "Online and phone poll of 1,033 U.S. adults conducted Oct. 3-5, 2025. Margin of error is ±3.4 percentage points. Respondents were asked: Regardless of any official designation, which comes closer to your personal view, even if neither is exactly right? "Hamas is a terrorist organization that works primarily in its own best interest" or "Hamas is a militant resistance group that works primarily in the best interest of the Palestinian people."

I’m glad Jonas Vingegaard is taking the right view on the protests.
Text saying: “On Sunday, Vingegaard had expressed his sympathy for the protestors.

“People are protesting for a reason,” he told Danish channel TV2. “What’s happening right now (in Gaza) is horrific. The protesters want their voices to be heard, and I believe the media should give them that space in some way.

“It’s unfortunate that the protests are taking place during the race, and nearly all riders agree on that, but these people are desperate to find a way to be heard.””

The Alabama Public Library Service has proposed an amendment to the requirements to receive State funding that specifically targets trans and gender nonconforming groups. If you can, please send a comment on the change. I have added a picture of the proposed rule change.
Alabama Rule on library requirements with proposed change underlined in blue. The text states: "(i) approve written guidelines that ensure library sections designated for minors under the age of 18 remain free of material containing obscenity, sexually explicit, or other material deemed inappropriate for children or youth. Under this section, any material that promotes, encourages, or positively depicts transgender procedures, gender ideology, or the concept of more than two biological genders shall be considered inappropriate for children and youth. Age-appropriate materials regarding religion, history, biology, or human anatomy should not be construed to be against this rule."

I looked up the “Saving College Sports” group that just put up ads in the Bama game. It looks like they suck.
Text that says: “Leg #1: legal certainty and consistency.

The first step is to commit to a legal and regulatory certainty and consistency that everyone can understand and follow. The rules governing college sports can no longer be a patchwork of 34 different state laws, as we have today. College sports needs certainty and the ability to enforce those rules.

Solutions:
Anti-trust Exemption to prevent repeated lawsuits and allow for enforcement of rules
Ensure that athletes will remain student athletes and not employees
Preemption of State law to provide consistency and fairness for all institutions
Clarity on Title IX that payments will be based proportionally on sport revenueText that says: “Leg #2 Governance Reform

Second, once the legal and regulatory landscape have uniformity across all sports and all institutions, college sports needs comprehensive governance reform that provides leadership with meaningful rulemaking and enforcement authority.

Solution:
Establish a federally chartered non-profit, called the United States Collegiate Athletics Corporation, to oversee college sports modeled on the USOPC”Text that says: “Leg #3 unleash the economic engine of college sports

The first two reforms create the framework that will govern college sports in the best interest of college athletics. To ensure that all schools and all sports can continue to operate, college sports needs to maximize their economic pie. Massive growth in revenue will provide greater opportunities for major programs and conferences, save vulnerable programs at small schools, and protect the women’s sports and Olympic sports that may not generate substantial revenue but provide invaluable opportunities to thousands of American student athletes.

Solution:
Extend to college sports the same rights professional leagues have under the Sports Broadcasting Act to efficiently market their media rights and to maximize viewership through optimized scheduling”
