The problem with metroidvania as a genre name is that you can make a metroidvania tierlist and people will go "why didn't you put metroid or castlevania on here?" when neither metroid nor castlevania really fit into the genre definition despite being it's namesakes.

Also these design alterations that smooth out young Zelda’s nose bridge or make Child Link less of an exaggerated cherub baby are missing the point. Zelda looking unsettlingly otherworldly and Child Link looking like the worlds littlest baby man reinforces their roles in the story.

My (potentially) hot take is that I think the best order in which to play the Kingdom Hearts games is release order. I don't think there's much to gain from playing them chronologically, In fact, I think you lose quite a bit by doing so.

I think the appeal of rocky horror is lost in translation for anybody who wasn’t There in the 70s because neither the arguments for or against it really “get” it. From my perspective it helped a family member of mine who was a teenager in the 70s transition, and for that I see it as a net good.
