Gift knit number two for 2026 is completed! This one is for a photographer friend whose schedule doesn’t often line up with others’ so I wanted to make sure he got something extra special this year. Camera motif is from the Doodle Knit Directory by Jamie Lomax #knitsky #handmade #photography
A dark green hand knitted hat with a band of oatmeal colored yarn through the center. Green cameras stand out against the brown band.

Starting to get a hankering for making baby blankets again. Turns out if you log cabin a jelly roll it comes out just the right size and you don’t have to measure a thing! I finished this one in the spring for a coworker and it was a delight. #quiltsky #babyblanket #handmade

It’s time once again to pull out the desk pumpkins. Students love squeezing these things when they’re stressed about exams, and I love making them. The pattern is by Nimble Needles, and he’s got a great tutorial! I love how he says pumpkin in his accent 🎃 #knitsky #pumpkin #autumn
Two knitted pumpkins arranged on a desk in front of a fake plant. The first pumpkin is large and orange, knitted with chunky yarn. The second pumpkin is small and yellow, knitted with worsted weight yarn.

Pulled a few more #linocut prints this weekend to get ready for an upcoming art market, and did a couple of postcards while I was at it. I’m loving #postcrossing so far!
A handmade linocut print of blueberries on the bush in black ink on cream colored watercolor paper. There is a slight texture in the print from the paper, and there are horizontal chatter marks across the top half of the page.

I started #postcrossing a few weeks ago and have been having such a great time! I already had a bunch of blank postcards, so I’ve been putting my own prints on those until I start receiving cards in return and decide if I want to invest in some postcard packs. The recipients seem to like them so far

#showmeyourknits This shawl is a scrapbook of sorts using my fanciest yarn: the shape is the same as my first shawl, the blue linen is the stitch pattern of my first blanket, the pink silk is the stitch pattern of my first scarf, and the white alpaca represents my first lace socks. #knitsky #wip
A partially finished knitted shawl in blue, pink, and white stripes.

Decided to break out the good stuff because it deserves to be used. This is yarn I bought at my local fiber fest this summer: white is alpaca/silk blend, pink is pure silk, and blue is linen. I’ll post more pics when the shawl really starts coming together! #knitsky
A close up of a knitted shawl. There are three stripes: the top is white lace, the middle is a light pink seed stitch, and the bottom is blue and purple in a box pattern.

Taught myself a bit of foundation paper piecing this summer, and it’s safe to say that I’m hooked. If you have a favorite FPP pattern or designer, please share! #quiltsky
The top of a witch hat I’m making for my sister. It’s a square of fabric with one corner rounded. The background is a dark navy fabric with green leaves (which glow in the dark). In the center is a compass point star in bright lemon yellow and pinkish orange. A blood orange paper pieced block for a citrus themed quilt. The background is a light blue plaid, and the fruit in the center is octagonal with rich red fruit, a dull light red pith, and a dark orange peel. A rainbow paper pieced wall hanging with a rainbow scallop patterned border, white gingham background, and multilayered pinwheel design in rainbow at the center.

Still a work in progress, but I couldn’t resist showing this cowl/infinity scarf off for #showmeyourknits stripes week! This is an entrelac pattern with hand dyed alpaca yarn from my friends at Little Creek Alpacas.

I don’t tend to enjoy making scarves much, but here’s one I did out of spite that ended up being a really lovely gift for a friend. One of the first things I designed entirely myself, it’s fairly simple but the striped yarn kept my brain just interested enough to finish. #showmeyourknits #knitsky

Spent the weekend designing, patterning, and stumbling through practicing my own citrus quilt block from scratch. First attempt was pretty slapdash but I took my time with the second one and I’d say that’s a recognizable lime. Only 98 more to go and I’ll have myself a quilt. #quiltsky #handmade
A hand drawn quilt block pattern in pencil with notes in the left hand margin. The block depicts a citrus slice composed of eight wedges, plus narrow strips for pith and the peel. A quilt block depicting a slice of lemon on a light blue background. The lemon is oblong and the eight wedges are smushed together in the middle due to the block’s mediocre construction. A quilt block depicting a slice of lime on a periwinkle background. The block is imperfect with some mismatched seams, but it shows a vast improvement over the lemon.

Finally finished my second quilt! It’s tough to get a nice picture of something this size, but I’m super proud of how it came out. Top is my own wave design, back is a disappearing nine patch in duck cloth at my beloved’s insistence. Vast skill improvement already! #quiltsky #handmade #queercraft
A person spreading a handmade quilt over a queen size bed. The quilt has a horizontal pixelated wave pattern which transitions from pinks to blues to light and dark grays. The back of the quilt spread out over the bed. The back is a disappearing nine patch pattern with pink and light blue floral large squares, beige floral horizontal rectangles, abstract lines suggesting faces in the vertical rectangles, and small dark green squares with red, white, and yellow flowers. The same quilt as before with the back side facing up. One corner has been flipped to show both faces at once.

One half of a handmade quilt held vertically. The quilt is a progress pride flag, and the portion pictured features the red, orange, and yellow stripes as well as half of the black, brown, light blue, pink, and white diagonal portions of the flag. Distinguishable prints in the quilt include large and small florals, orange fruits, strawberries, dandelions, gingham, bunnies, pine cones, and geometric motifs.

Unsewn quilt blocks laid out messily in stripes of red, orange, yellow, and green. The stripes alternate between 12 inch and 6 inch blocks, and the fabric prints include gingham, florals, circles, fruit, bunnies, and swans. Remember that yarn my sister spun for me? Looks like I figured out what to do with it. No pattern, just worked off a photo and experimented. I’m obsessed with the subtle color bands in the yarn- it worked up more beautifully than I could have imagined. #knitsky #handmade #yarn #knit
A person in a white shirt with blue flowers wearing a dusty pink cowl knit from handspun yarn. Subtle bands of blue and orange appear naturally in the yarn. The cowl is slouchy, with occasional purl stripes throughout. It comes to a sharp point in front, with a tassel of the same yarn attached to the tip. The same person and cowl, with slightly more of their face showing.

Alright knitters, I need some help. My sister is a spinner and has sent me these two ENORMOUS skeins of handmade yarn to play with. What do you think I should knit with 445yd of worsted muted pink “unicorn farts”, or 515yd of bulky autumnal variegated “hot mess”? #knitsky #handmade #spinning #yarn
A large skein of hand spun yarn hung on a light green wall. The yarn is worsted weight, mostly a muted pink color with flecks of blue and purple and some strands of sparkle throughout. The handwritten card reads “sheep wool, firestar, maybe bamboo? 445 yards of Sparkle Unicorn Farts. Couldn’t decide on a project”A close up view of Sparkle Unicorn Farts from photo 1A huge skein of hand spun yarn hung in front of a light green wall. The yarn is a bulky weight, primarily orange with bits of green, brown, and red plied in throughout in very autumnal tones. The handwritten details cars accompanying it reads “100% sheep wool. 517 yards Hot Mess. Fiber by: The Bird’s Nest Knits and More”A close up view of Hot Mess handspun yarn described in the third picture.
