The aperitivo this week is a variant of the innocent looking but probably lethal in large-enough doses “Agrippina” ….. Handel writes good “black humour”….

On a TV is Agrippina from The Met Opera, in the foreground a yellow cocktail in a coup, a Roman Centurion next to a small Gladius, a Rome guide all on top of the official guide to the Colosseum (or Flavian Amphitheater if you prefer.

I first saw Billy Budd at ROH in 1982, Robert Tear and Thomas Allen. Britten always makes you feel like you have been through the wringer with the characters purely through the music. Exceptional performances. Next week Rome calls but not who you might expect… #AperitivisAndArias

This is very much in my wellhouse 💧 Penmon Priory crosses, St Seiriol’s Well, Penmon Point, then on to Din Sylwy in search of another well, then a yomp up Bwrdd Arthur to the trig point, and collected sloes along the way. 🌿 Lots of listening, wandering and well... research 😉

It was very nice, Bombay Sapphire, Campari and Rosso, orange peel, loads of ice. €8 So not bad. Took time over creating, mixed in a mixing jug. I stood out of the way as they then continued clearing up ha ha! I didn’t want take away - no way. 😇
