The funniest part of that whole clip is the absolute befuddlement that anyone would go to an Atlanta Hawks game and because I also forgot that they had an NBA team.

It is gloriously Fall right now in the PNW which means either oh god it's raining and will never stop or holy shit the gods of pumpkin spice have bestowed us with light sweater weather and pockets of red leaves among the evergreens

The most absolutely massive flex from the state fair exhibit. This quilt is made of 40 years of prize ribbons from various categories at the New Mexico State Fair won by Carol St. Clair Johnson. She also won a prize for this quilt.

satin ribbons

After unexpectedly winning her first blue ribbon for a sewn cape in 1981, Carol St. Clair Johnson developed an enduring love for the New Mexico State Fair. The quilt Fair New Mexico-41 Fair Years incorporates more than six hundred of the ribbons she won at the fair every subsequent year except 2020 (when the fair was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic). Johnson earned ribbons for needlework, knitting, crochet, pies, cookies, cakes, canning, jewelry, flowers, vegetables, and potted plants. The title of the quilt is a reference to the state song, and the design places the state's Zia sun symbol at the center. The quilt earned Johnson yet another ribbon: Best in Category (miscellaneous quilt) at the 2023 New Mexico State Fair.

I'm on my cottage cheese kick that happens every few years where I remember cottage cheese exists, eat it incessantly for two weeks, think about the texture too hard, and then stop eating it until the cycle resets

Think about Miss Piggy. She lost a best friend and now an ex-lover in matter of 24 hours.
Miss Piggy and Dolly Parton in fancy dresses posing together photo of Tim Curry surrounded by muppets, smiling for a photo. A quote from curry is added “it didn’t go very well. It didn’t survive the shoot. She felt I wasn’t being faithful to her” it’s him discussing his ill fated affair with miss piggy

Like I clowned on Taco Time a little when I moved back to Washington but if I don't think of it as anything but it's own little genre of food, it's actually still pretty great. I don't know why a king ranch chicken flauta and tater tots hits just right sometimes but it does.

The trouble with being the kid that hyper focused into chemistry and didn't touch it for twenty years is that you still remember that sodium bicarbonate decomposes at higher temperatures into a sodium carbonate and now you're baking baking soda to make more pretzely pretzels

Today's loaf. An experiment in skipping cold proofing. It's great and a little more sour. Also adding a second steam after the initial bounce. Resulted in a baguette-texture of crust which was super nice I let the kid cut the ear today and I am so brave
