We broke the world record in ancient DNA today! 2-million-year-old DNA from plants and animals were retrieved from geological deposits and show that North Greenland was once home to an open boreal/arctic community incl. mastodon. www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-…...

It surprisingly worked despite nit and louse samples being as small as they are + considering the sturdiness they possess after 2000 years in the dirt bit.ly/3EBwLL2. We had to continually come up with ideas to break them to retrieve the DNA embedded within.@UniReading

The La Lindosa rock art was really impressive, not just the heights and the sizes of the displays, but especially the details and complexity in what is expressed. Humans dancing, alone, some with animal features and symmetrical patterns all in one large composition…..
