Man, first I was really annoyed by how the newer Opus model talk. "Let me push back", "X is load-bearing", "X shaped", "Three things landed, two made it worth". And now find myself using "X shaped" myself... 🫣 Still haven't figured out if people really talk like that.

I have this Macbook Pro M1 Max which I barely use but that is around to occasionally run local models. I wondered why the disk is so full and then realized I apparently once installed Cyberpunk 2077 to see how it runs and then forgot about it! 😂

I'd really like to know where Opus 4.7 and 4.8 got these verbal tics from. It constantly says stuff like "load-bearing" (instead of just saying it's important), or "X-shaped" instead of "looks like X". Do people really talk like this somewhere (I'm assuming in Silicon Valley?)

Ha! Yeah I can only imagine somewhere there's a "number of turns" KPI and this is the hack they found to drive that up in the short-term. I also have a "no follow ups" in my custom prompt, but unfortunately not everywhere.

BTW, I wrote the whole thing with Claude Code in about 30 minutes. Coding agents really open up the door to bespoke software modifications. I wouldn't even had attempted to fix this myself pre-AI!

Yeah, I mean that's the dark side of sticky products... but I'm hoping that these technologies become more widespread and then every product has that capability. And maybe there'll be open standards for memory exchange etc.
