Last night’s (justified) whining aside Stalker 2 and its DLC has probably moved up to 2nd place in my favourite games of all time list. The 2.0 update fixed so much that I have wound up doing a whole second playthrough and it has been distracting me from Blood of Dawnwalker and PT: Resonance.

I finally played Days Gone and just finished it. From a Remaster perspective I don’t get the mixed reception. Love it from start to end. May even prefer it to Last of Us. Damn shame it is not getting a sequel. Sony needs to stop being so stupid…

Finished Assassin’s Creed Black Flag this week and while I generally loved it I find it funny that my criticisms are the same ones that were in the original. The boarding of enemy ships is still boring and tedious as heck, and the Animus metanarrative is perhaps worse after the changes. Recommended.

So I went to an 11am screening of The Odyssey on a workday. I don’t think there was a single empty seat and everyone in the theatre seemed completely enraptured by the experience. Don’t think I have seen anything like it.

I am trying to avoid hyperbole when I say this. I just rolled credits on 007 First Light. Quite possibly my favourite iteration of James Bond outside of the books. It would be a crime against creativity if IOI didn’t get a chance to make more. Somehow I think they can do even better…

Finished The Alters just now. Well… one of the endings. An enthusiastic thumbs up. I am glad the game advised against me loading a past save. I am glad I saw the result of my decisions. Can’t recommend this game enough. DLC is already purchased for July. Can’t wait to see what they so.

My thoughts on the Sony Flexstrike… seems like a good controller for a casual fgc player who wants to upgrade from dual sense to stick. I wouldnt play wireless but a cool feature. The easy swapping of gates is neat. Concerns are limited buttons and modding/repairability. Wondering how heavy it is.

On the other end of the spectrum I burned through 7 episodes of Widow’s Bay this week and absolutely love it. It’s horror. It’s comedy. It has great characters and arcs for them. Almost too bad it is a limited series but that is in part why it works so well.

Short and incredibly sweet. I finished Mixtape. Easily on my shortlist for favourite games of games of 2026. Loved it from beginning to end. Can’t wait to see what comes next from Beethoven and Dinosaur. It feels like a classic I will always come back to.

I play better on a leverless but will admit that fightstick is the most fun way to play a fighting game. Thing is I keep going to tournaments and wanted something super portable and low maintenance. My current leverless I love… but it weighs 8 pounds and hate carrying it at a convention for 3 days.

Finished Kingdom Come: Deliverance (Reforged) last night. It is insane how good that game is. Probably sneaking into my personal top ten next time I revise the list. It has everything that I would want in an Elder Scrolls game and I hope Bethesda takes notes. Already have part 2 ready to play. ;)

Just finished Lost Records: Bloom & Rage . I had feels. Cynical reviews again lowered my expectations and I ended up adoring it. Really hope they continue with Lost Records whether that is an anthology series or a straight up sequel. I am so here for it. Now I need a frame for the polaroid.

Been playing Reanimal with a friend and so far loving it. Far more engaging than LN3 and it innovates with its use of 3 dimensions. Visual aesthetics and sound design are top notch. I won’t hesitate on future DLC.

Just finished the 2024 Alone in the Dark reboot with David Harbour and Jodie Comer starring. I enjoyed the hell out of it and am really disappointed with the cynical reviews it got. It’s not perfect but better than 6/10. I think it was cursed being released next to Alan Wake 2.

Took me pretty much the whole month of January but I just finished the Mass Effect trilogy. Especially with the Legendary Edition I have zero qualms with the endings. I chose Destruction but could have seen Synthesis as a viable option. I feel bad about EDI and The Geth though. RIP my Shepard.

Stayed up too late and finished Mass Effect 2 with full crew intact. There are very few games I’d give a 10/10 to, and ME2 is one of them. While i have finished 1 & 2, I look forward to actually finishing 3 for the first time. My Cmdr Shepard is such a badass.
