Scared the living daylights out of me but I didn’t want to behead anyone.

In fairness when I had flu once I actually hallucinated Trump had made me kamikaze pilot a nuclear ballistic missile. Turns out my partner had given me the wrong strength pain killer (one of those mixed ones).

Perhaps he’s been too busy playing at making AI videos of himself beating up tigers. Note: he’s got the nuclear codes.

Peppone is a Communist in the books, which are set post-War. But he’s actually based on this Peasant Socialist leader from before WW2, Giovanni Faraboli. He ran the Italian socialist underground in Toulouse under Vichy and the Nazis. A hero of mine.

A couple of fine performers there for Swinton: the great Green Vigo who seemed to come and go in a flash, and Alan Grice, a very solid performer in the forwards.

Just wait until Matt learns what book a certain prominent member of his own party used in the allegiance ceremony, admittedly in 2024 when she was still a Tory….

Spiders Georg? I tried various ways to find out including one that suggested possibly less than 20. I guess to actually nail the number down you need to buy a subscription to Crockfords. Crumbling in some cases: yes. More than 100?

I googled it and the AI answer suggested a figure way lower than 100, but that’s AI. It’s an interesting article that I guess may be tomorrow’s long read.

@mthrjo.bsky.social I was reading the Guardian’s special report on the campaign against the CofE’s Project Spire and came across this: “I’ve got north of 100 parish churches in my constituency, many of them crumbling,” added Katie Lam, an up-and-coming Conservative MP. Is that likely?

There are a few around the UK in random nonleague football locations like Lowestoft, Kings Lynn and Morden (close to Tooting and Mitcham United).

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting the well-stocked @hannoverzinelibrary.openbiblio.social.ap.brid.gy and the fantastic @svarminia.bsky.social for #LeToMaGiC Issue eight. Thank you all in Hannover for the enriching conversations as well as the lovely day!

Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome? There are 12 books in the series. TBH the problem may be that even in the ‘60s I found them a bit old fashioned. That could well just be me.
