Radical take: it should be illegal for an employer to cover health care/insurance as compensation for employment. Employers should not be allowed to have that kind of leverage over their employees, period.

"I am important to the Western Hemisphere" is a hell of a stance

Elder ex-politicians that could credibly speak on behalf of a party would be great messengers, and while not having to worry about slighting some nuts-and-bolts legislative effort by saying the wrong thing. We would all benefit from a respectable retirement for older politicians.

In the past these guys would just drift into the background of the party machinery, still important and lauded but not in control. But parties no longer function in that way, and so too many politicians either pursue elected positions forever or cash out as lobbyists, media figures.

“I fled socialism with my family in 1979 and know the devastating, oppressive society it created in the Soviet Union. I don’t want California to end up in the same place.” His is one of the wealthiest people in history ever and this is his response to potentially being 5% less rich.

It is incredible that they never, ever consider bringing today's workers along in this absolutely-for-sure-going-to-happen AI and robot revolution. Like, just say it should be paired with universal health care and income and we'll all have to work less. People might support that.

"the vanquishing of an opponent" / "belief structure lurking within" / "servants need not be our priests" / "lurks from beneath a thinly veiled scorn" Was this written by a 14 year old dungeon master?

Right, and what is the downside to the Democrat here? It's not like the media going to pull all those "Democrats are responsible for these good things" stories in response.
