A nice sunset over Southport Marine Lake. I would just like to add that it has been an amazing past week here with The Open at Royal Birkdale. I’ve only heard of positive things about the Americans and all the tourists that came over. A very successful event from all involved.

Great to be at the 154th Open at Royal Birkdale today. An amazing event and huge for Southport to be hosting the world’s best golfers on this stage. A special good luck to Southport’s own Tommy Fleetwood, what a story it would be if he wins it!

The issue everyone is talking about in Southport right now is the baffling decision by Sefton Council to shut down the Botanic Gardens Aviaries. Meols Ward Lib Dems have set up a petition to save it here 👇 shorturl.at/DgbL8

Great to see Hesketh Park in Southport busy with families and teeming with wildlife today. The play area and café were full, the Makers Market had lots of visitors and there was just a lovely atmosphere. My highlight was seeing all the wildlife flourishing, especially the young birds growing up.

Cllr Mike Sammon @mikesammon.bsky.social · 09/06/2026

Tonight at a Sefton Council committee meeting, a Labour councillor said “heat pumps don’t work”. That is interesting because my business is installing one this week. I’ll post a video of it working and explain the most common feedback I’ve had from customers. Spoiler: it’s overwhelmingly positive.
