"The lesser of two evils is still evil" is an excuse. If we are engaged the politicians will bend to our wills in order to be elected. If we don't engage the politicians will bend to the wills of the people who are engaged.

It's not the math, it's the text in the post. In the graphic, The text in the post must be a typo. In the graphic Talrico has 46.9 to 43.5 lead. Whoever transcribed the numbers simply switched the 6 and 9.

If there are more registered Democrats than Republicans in KY, then those Dems need to get out and vote so that no statewide elected office is held by a Republican.

Yes, it is that big. It has to be because it is the only viable alternative to the authoritarianism being perpetrated by the TrumpubliQans. No one will be replacing anyone else, that’s what it means to have a big tent. First, we must work together to thwart the anti-democracy movement on the right.

Mike McAngus @mikemcangus.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
The Democratic party is a big tent containing a very wide range of viewpoints; from Blue Dogs to Centrists to Democratic Socialists in the AOC/Sanders mold to extremists in the far left DSA mold. The time to fight among ourselves is after we've wrested the country from the TrumpubliQan grip.

What efforts during the Obama years were those? Filibustering Executive branch appointments and Federal judges? Ds got rid of that in 2013. Filibustering SCOTUS nominations? Rs got rid of that in 2017. Ds still block the egregious legislation, which is why the Felon must rely on his Exec Orders.

Mike McAngus @mikemcangus.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
Most of that blockage was accomplished in the courts, especially SCOTUS, not in Congress. Elections have consequences, and one consequence of so many Republican trifectas is a captured court.

Bringing the issue to our attention. If you want more to be done then Democrats need to have majorities in the House and the Senate.

Mike McAngus @mikemcangus.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
What do you propose Democrats, who are in the minority in both houses of Congress, do to hold the administration accountable? Other than speaking out, which is what they are doing and what so many are decrying as not enough.

What do you think a Democratic Representative can do when TrumpubliQans control the White House, the Congress, and the Supreme Court. It’s up to us to give the Democrats the ability to do something by voting as many Republicans out of office as possible all up and down the ballot.

This description of "unelected bureaucrats" from the article sounds like an apt description of the SCOTUS TrumpubliQan majority during the Biden administration.
Screenshot from the article:
"Since politicians are sent to the White House to enact the will of the winning section of the voting public, to allow unelected bureaucrats to undermine the political program which the president has promised to enact on behalf of the people is to subvert American democracy."

Because Republicans in the Congress and the right-wing captured SCOTUS repeatedly blocked the Biden administration's attempts to provide permanent legal status and citizenship to Dreamers.

BTW, the overlap I was referring to was the overlap of areas of concern for which my local candidates have expressed opinions and advocated policies. Even in those areas of overlap, my local candidates disagree on the importance of some of the issues or their solutions.

None of the candidates that I will be voting for respresent DSA views. I was responding to your simplistic concept that there is a singular local democratic candidate. My local candidates must run in this state that is much more conservative than NY.
