Wow! Sat down and started The Hunger and the Dusk by G. Willow Wilson and Chris Wildgoose, and finished it. The world building in this romantasy is phenomenal and the art, more than a few times, was reminiscent of the magic of Dan Mora on Klaus. 5/5 #comicsky #thehungerandthedusk #idwcomics

Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett are two professionals who work well together and know how to tell a comic book story. I missed the Kickstarter, yet am very grateful that I was able to buy the Section Zero HC from Karl at TerrifiCon. This was great fun! 4/5 #comicsky #sectionzero #impossiblejones

Kinky Karrot Presents Off the Beaten Path by Marie Sann and Yann Krehl may be something in the original German, but I found this to be nearly unreadable. Writing is very stiff, and the way the story skips around, it's nearly impossible to make a relationship with the characters. 1/5 #comicsky

Finished Absolute Batman v 3, Joker. I don't like Joker. I think he's overused and ridiculous. Scott Snyder makes him horrific. Even though it's only backstory, I look forward to what follows. Ivy was scary too. I don't do horror but I would if it was all like this. Art is spectacular 5/5 #comicsky

Birds of Prey by Gail Simone omni v 2 scored well with me. Gail can teach a masterclass on writing. The art is good throughout, but I found Nicola Scott's work to be stellar. You don't need to hear that. Everyone knows how I feel about Nicola. I fell in love with Zinda as a character. 4/5 #comicsky

Ultimate Spider-Man vol 4 by Hickman, Checchetto, & Messina is splenid. I can't believe that Marvel's ending this ultimate endeavor again because this is my favorite current Spider-Man story by far. Art matches storytelling in quality. I look forward to the omnibus 5/5 #spiderman #ultimatespiderman

Another pick up from TerrifiCon is Calico: Street Math, and it is very good.Think the Punisher on steroids, but only hunts down animal abusers. This is a really well done, independent comic. I thoroughly enjoyed it so much that I reached out to the comic company. 4/5 #comicsky #sigmacomics

First up from TerrifiCon, I bought The Deadliest Bouquet by Erica Schultz and Carola Borelli from Erica in artist alley. It took me a while to get into it, but it was good. Tight writing, and I never saw the surprise end coming. The art was good. 4/5 #comicsky #imagecomics #thedeadliestbouquet

I just finished Escape by Rick Remender and Daniel Acuna. It's an anthropomorphic World War Two tale that is very riveting and seems very timely. Daniel painted the art, and it is evident that this is a passionate project for him. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the charm of Blacksad. 4/5 #comicsky

Last night, I read Take the Fall by @tessfowler.bsky.social As an autobiography, it was extremely emotional and hard-hitting. The art was appropriate. The text was astounding. I'm so happy I got this book. I just wanna wrap her in my arms and tell her it's okay. Even though it's really not. 5/5

It took longer than expected, but I finally finished Web of Spider-Man omnibus vol 2. More creators participated than I can list here, yet the heavy lifting looks like it was done by Gerry Conway and Alex Saviuk (who is a much better artist than I originally gave him credit for). 4/5 #comicsky

After reading Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring, written and illustrated by Patrick Horvath, I'm feeling pretty good. Patrick has a real treasure on his hands, and I hope he's got plenty more. This sequel did not lose any of the magic of the original. 5/5 #comicsky #idwcomics
