Documentation tells *people* how to use your code, package, etc. For the love of all that is Holy, PLEASE write documentation for *people*, NOT AI. Again, less time coding *should* mean more time writing documentation. So let’s try to improve that aspect.

UI and UX is about how *people* interact with your web app, dashboard, or product. If it takes less time to build that now, *HOPEFULLY* we can spend more time thinking about UI/UX aspects to make that experience better…

After all, it’s *people* who develop R, who govern and review packages for CRAN (who keep the standards high and prevent AI slop!), it’s *people* who develop and maintain open-source packages.

I saw an Insta reel today that said that actually the Suno AI output is now *WORSE* because major labels are insisting that their (copyrighted) music is not included in the Suno training dataset. :taps watch: time for Suno’s AI music model to be launched into the sun.

Was having a week of serious post-Posit::Conf comedown, but a few very positive things are in the pipeline musically, which is really encouraging. Starts tomorrow with the Ableton Sunday Session at GLOSS, the visiting my musical buddy Ali on Monday.

Note that this work is not tied to a specific platform or process, it's designed to sit alongside current workflow tools. I'm really interested to see where this goes. HT to Michael Hackl and his colleagues at Scinteco.

It gives you the ability to see upstream and ask questions like "What data and processes informed this visualisation?" and downstream questions like "If I change this data, what downstream elements will need re-run?". Some examples here: gitmick.github.io/kton-examples/
gitmick.github.io
kton - worked examples
kton records how data was produced (plankton) and what has been said about it (nekton), as small signed content-addressed records anyone can verify. Fourteen worked examples with a live graph viewer.

kton is an open standard for capturing provenance (inputs -> code -> outputs) and sign-off (review, approval). It's informed by work from the DDMoRe project, but is a lightweight implementation coded in the Go language. kton.dev

kton — a substrate for verifiable science
Record how data was produced and who vouched for it, as signed content-addressed records anyone can verify. Federated, standards-based, open. Test it, read the examples, help build the standard.

At first glance the headline is frightening - a dplyr function does bad things! - then as you read the article you might think “Bah! This is pedantry…” but of course Danielle has a solution. Read the whole thing. And don’t skip bits. quantile then cut baby.
