It’s really funny how little my instagram algorithm knows about me. It somehow has picked up that I like ‘weird movies’ (despite never posting about movies there, thanks surveillance state) so it advertises David Lynch and House (1977) T-shirts and nothing else

I am finally playing the original Control many years late and y’all, this is not a good game…

It’s really funny that riding a motorcycle in the Twin Peaks universe means you dress like a cool biker but have the personality of the biggest dork imaginable

Subjective list of directors by how well they can do action comedy: - Edgar Wright (2 decades ago) - Phil Lord and Chris Miller - Shane Black - John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein - Guy Ritchie - Ilya Naishuller - David Leitch - Edgar Wright (present day) - Shawn Levy

It surprised me that Ed Sheeran won’t stand up against racism or genocide when he looks like a 19th British person’s racist caricature of an Irishman brought to life; but then I found out he’s actually English, so that makes a bit more sense.

I’m a centrist restaurant owner. I know people are upset at the restaurant across the street putting rat poison in their food, so to attract their customers and surely not drive away my own, I’ll be putting half as much rat poison in all our dishes now.

One thing nobody tells you about your 30’s is that you *will* develop a favorite character actor and it *will* change regularly based on the movies/shows you watch (I just rewatched Zodiac and Magnolia recently, so it’s currently Philip Baker Hall)

“One day this will end,” says local man optimistically, unsure if he’s talking about the 100 degree heat every day or his life.

I do think a good X-Men ‘97 bit would be to Too Many Cooks it and do a whole episode that’s just the theme song continuously introducing new characters; they have enough characters and the theme song is so good nobody would mind

I do love The Protomen’s Act 3, my second favorite of the albums and maybe the best individual songs, but it does feel like, where Act 1 and 2 had a cohesive story to tell, Act 3 is more disjointed, just kind of the characters all shouting their feelings until the end when things finally happen

Losing my mind at The Boys revisionism when I see people online talking about it like this incredible show that fell apart at the end. It was a mid show adapted from a worse comic that slowly dipped in quality the last couple seasons, it is not the same category as Game of Thrones

Guy on a job site was like “well obviously we’d only put the feminine products disposal in the women’s restroom” and I almost was like “well..” Getting too woke for the construction industry (not a high bar, except normally I’d just keep my mouth shut)

It’s kind of crazy that AppleTV has 2 shows with the premise “Seth Rogen is in California with a friend getting into awkward comedic situations”, and somehow they’re both pretty good

It’s kind of wild that a lot of what feels refreshing in the new Spider-Man (his secret identity actually mattering, making it harder for him to have relationships and live a normal life, etc) is just like, basic Comic Book 101 stuff, but the MCU is for some reason barely ever interested in that

I know this wasn’t the original intent, but Blade Runner figuring out decades ago that the best way to figure out if someone is actually AI impersonating a human is “ask them a bunch of questions until something seems off” is an incredible called shot

Smartest Odyssey casting decisions: - Jon Bernthal as “guy who styles himself as a noble leader when actually he’s just a brutal thug” - Tim Holland as “guy who’s technically an adult but nobody sees him that way yet” - Travis Scott as “guy performing when some of his audience is about to die”

It’s funny reading The Odyssey realizing just how much ancient literature is just “here’s how to behave in society” disguised as a story.

You ever think about how they had to make Ryan gay-coded in High School Musical because otherwise the incest vibes would be off the charts?

I just want to say to the writers of reality that you’ve been getting pretty on the nose lately, but there’s some hack writing decisions we wouldn’t be mad about, like having It Happen on Independence Day

So were any rich and ‘successful’ people in the past actually competent in the areas they claimed to be competent, or were guys like Rockefeller, Carnegie, Hearst, etc, just the Musks/Trumps/Rogans of their day?

I love The Locked Tomb series but every book is just the characters all going “what the fuck is happening?” for 90% of the book until one or more deus ex machinas show up to explain things and/or fight each other, and then throw all the characters into a new mysterious situation

It’s kind of insane most map apps haven’t added a ‘which side of the street are you on?’ question when starting a route, because there are certain roads where that’s extremely important to know for route planning (especially in cities full of nightmare roads like Dallas)

Nothing’s more deranged than seeing attack ads by republicans against other republicans right now. “Politician A claims to be MAGA but *he* hasn’t strangled 10 immigrants a day like *I* have!” “Politician B *says* he hates LGBTQ people, but he sided with Gavin Newsom’s trans agenda!”
