Kevin Kruger fired after four years. Higher winning percentage than his two predecessors, reeled in some impressive recruits and swept SDSU, but UNLV always seemed to add up to less than the sum of its parts. Biggest issue: Never truly settled on an identity/style of play.

Final: Utah State 70, UNLV 58. The spirit was willing, but UNLV goes the final 6:20 without a field goal. Jalen Hill, Jaden Henley and Jailen Bedford all logged 40 minutes. An uncertain offseason begins now, with Kevin Kruger's job status the main story for the next 24 hours.

020

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 14/03/2025

Halftime: Utah State 36, UNLV 29. Utah State closes with a 5-0 spurt, including a buzzer-beater 3. UNLV has been the more physical team by far, led by Jaden Henley (10 points) and Jalen Hill (eight points). Henley, Hill and Jailen Bedford have played the entire 20 minutes.

010

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 14/03/2025

The star version of Jaden Henley has arrived tonight. Behind the back on the fast break for a layup, then a kick-out to Isaiah Cottrell for 3. Henley has 10 points and two assists. It's crazy that UNLV is in this game. Utah State 27, UNLV 25 w/ 3:13 left in the first half.

010

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 14/03/2025

UNLV goes on a 9-0 run to keep Utah State from running away early. Jailen Bedford hits a circus shot from the corner, Jaden Henley drives for a tough finish, then Henley tips in his own miss. They're scrapping. Utah State 19, UNLV 16 w/ 7:44 left in first half.

000

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 14/03/2025

Not the start UNLV needed tonight. Just 1-of-11 from the field, 0-of-3 from deep. Bear Cherry picked up two fouls in the first two minutes and went to the bench. Kruger may need to risk it and let him play. They need something. Utah State 16, UNLV 5 w/ 11:39 left in first half.

000

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 14/03/2025

UNLV starting lineup vs. Utah State: Brooklyn Hicks Jailen Bedford Jaden Henley Jalen Hill Jeremiah "Bear" Cherry This five-man unit has logged 36:53 together this season and been outscored by the opposition, 60-37. Against Air Force they got outscored, 15-9, in 8:17.

Hill goes the distance to lead UNLV past Air Force in MWC tourney lasvegassun.com/news/2025/ma...

030

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 13/03/2025

Ironman performance from Jalen Hill: 18 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 40 minutes. Hill hasn’t subbed out of a game since March 4.

040

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 13/03/2025

Final: UNLV 68, Air Force 59. After shooting 7-of-29 in the first half, UNLV flips the switch and makes 16-of-22 over the final 20 minutes (72.7 percent). Jailen Bedford is the hero with 13 points and a team-best +14 in 28 minutes. Next up: Utah State in the MWC quarterfinals.

040

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 13/03/2025

Jalen Hill slams a two-handed dunk and UNLV has put this one away with a 19-0 run. Credit to Jailen Bedford for coming back in and making the big shots. He's up to 13 points on 5-of-8 FGs (3-of-5 3FGs). UNLV 60, Air Force 47 w/ 3:50 remaining.

060

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 13/03/2025

Good news for UNLV: Jailen Bedford is back on the court with a bandage above his eye. Bad news: Air Force just went on a 5-0 run, forcing Kevin Kruger to call timeout. Largest lead of the game for AFA. Air Force 36, UNLV 28 w/ 15:54 remaining.

010

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 12/03/2025

Halftime: Air Force 25, UNLV 21. Rough 20 minutes for the Scarlet and Gray, shooting 2-of-13 from 3-point range with six turnovers. UNLV is down to one healthy scholarship guard after Jailen Bedford's injury. Lot of things going wrong. Thankfully, Air Force is pretty bad.

010

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 12/03/2025

Jailen Bedford leaves the court and heads back to the locker room with six minutes left in the half. That could be a huge development; UNLV has no scholarship guards left besides Brooklyn Hicks. Air Force 18, UNLV 12 w/ 5:24 left in the first half.

000

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 12/03/2025

Air Force opens the game with a 7-0 run but UNLV scores the next nine. Early contribution from seldom-used Isaiah Cottrell, who hits the 3-pointer to put UNLV ahead (and extend the streak). UNLV 9, Air Force 7 w/ 11:03 remaining.

010

Mike Grimala @mikegrimala.bsky.social · 12/03/2025

UNLV starting lineup vs. Air Force: Brooklyn Hicks Jailen Bedford Jaden Henley Jalen Hill Jeremiah "Bear" Cherry This five-man unit has logged 28:36 together this season and been outscored by the opposition, 45-28. In the last Air Force game they got outscored, 2-0, in 1:43.

Good afternoon from the Thomas & Mack Center! We are about 30 minutes away from tipoff for UNLV vs. Air Force in the play-in round of the Mountain West tournament. Scarlet and Gray are down to six healthy rotation players, but still big favorites over last-place Air Force.

Final: San Diego State 71, UNLV 59. The UNLV women's run atop the Mountain West comes to an end in the semifinals of the conference tournament. No four-peat for Lindy La Rocque's dynasty. Scarlet and Gray trailed by as many as 21. Done in by ice-cold 3-point shooting (7-of-30).
