I think that many of our children’s generation have not been taught them properly or are choosing to ignore them.

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 07/09/2025

I think certain sections of it came a long way, others didn’t because of true or wanton ignorance. This has led to a resurgence of (a) anti-semitism and (b) authoritarianism across the world which is worrying me greatly.

Visited Anne Frank’s house today and left wondering how far along this timeline we currently stand:

Agree Ken, but we definitely need (in order of priority) a quality keeper who commands the box and a central midfielder with a real engine.

Does end ish of September work for Ian too ? Might it be worth setting up a WhatsApp group to better replace the old Twitter group ?

@iangregg.bsky.social @kenperry447.bsky.social @housingkev.bsky.social Hope everyone is well ? Should we try to do a pre-season (or early season) get together ? Given that transfers have started to move the next few weeks might be suitable, holidays permitting. I am away 13th to 31st August.

Please stay in our comments group though Sara.

Was that VAR shambles the first time such a situation has worked in our favour ?

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 25/05/2025

The most useful contribution Hojlund has made for some time 😂

010

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 22/05/2025

Good plan Sara, but I wonder who would take him on terms which make club wide budget financial sense for us - because we are going to be right up against the wire on FfP limits.

120

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 22/05/2025

For me, Hojlund was so bad that he should have been hooked at half time - pour encourager les autres. Mount wasn’t far behind either.

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 22/05/2025

The fans were very loud until half time, but in the second half we looked even poorer than the first and all around me we all grew increasingly depressed by the lack of substitutions. Bringing Mainoo on only for extra time just put the cap on it.

I’ve just made it into Bilbao and been dropped at the fan zone

This is well worth reading and not only for Henry Winter’s words about Brian Glanville’s prophetic words about Bruno Fernandes. His articles were always well worth reading and so well written. RIP. footballwriters.co.uk/editorial/br...

In other news, I now have my UEFA ticket for Bilbao and flights there and back.

140

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 17/05/2025

Didn’t see it as we had (long before the date change) booked to see an AmDram Dad’s Army in Marple with some friends. Judging by reports it looks like I didn’t miss much.

110

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 11/05/2025

UEFA ticket website hurdle successfully negotiated this morning. Awaiting the actual tickets to arrive by email “a few days before the game”. No chance to select a seat, only what price I’m paying 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞

130

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 09/05/2025

I’m on the club day trip Ian. Maybe we can meet up during the day ? Have you chosen your seat yet, as I guess you will be ahead of me in the queue ?

120

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 09/05/2025

I’ve now got a flight booked, so now only need to wait until Sunday to choose my seat in the stadium on the UEFA website. Wish me luck. Apparently I only get one shot at doing it correctly.

240

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 08/05/2025

I have just arrived home to find an email telly me that I have been allocated a passcode to buy a ticket from UEFA - provided I can find a decent flight between now and Sunday morning.

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 08/05/2025

There’s no telling 🤷🏻‍♂️ But if they get another before we do it will be panic stations. I would take Lindelof off, move Mazroui to where he was and bring Diallo on to RWB

131

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 08/05/2025

Nice of them to wait for me before they started the warm up 🤣

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 08/05/2025

Who is going to the game this evening ? Confident ? Nervous ? Worried ?

210

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 07/05/2025

🤞Anyone else applied for tickets for the final in Bilbao ?🤞

100

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

Didn’t see / follow as we were up in the North East for the RL Magic Weekend. How did they play ?

110

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 01/05/2025

That trip to Bilbao for the final, which some of us spoke about pre-season, is coming closer 🤞🙏🤞

110

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 01/05/2025

We have never had such strong and proper support from a referee in Europe before in my memory 👏👏👏

130

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 01/05/2025

…and it’s looking like we could be facing a Spursy moment 🤣

120

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 01/05/2025

Surely not even the 24/25 United can lose it from a 3-0 nil away lead.

130

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 01/05/2025

Clear and obvious penalty and correct red card.

030

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 01/05/2025

We’ve survived the first half hour and then Harry pops up as a right winger and delivers our best cross of the season 🤷🏻‍♂️👏👏👏👏

130

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 01/05/2025

Hopeful, yes, but not confident because our performances this season simply don’t merit confidence. But it will be a great stadium for the final…

120

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 01/05/2025

Shaw is on the subs bench for this evening and we’ve gone back to Lindelof - I hope Amorim knows something I don’t.

I will be at the game this afternoon but suspect that it could well be an after the Lord Mayors Parade atmosphere given events on Thursday.

110

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 17/04/2025

Certainly in terms of excitement, if not quality.

020

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 17/04/2025

What a win. Teddy & Ole all over again. The cheating French so & so’s got exactly what they deserved, but the referee and linesmen were truly awful.

220

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 17/04/2025

How on earth do we contrive to throw away a two goal lead twice ? 😤🤯😤

130

Mike Gaskell @mikegaskell.bsky.social · 17/04/2025

A very satisfactory first half, though I can see a couple of players getting sent off the way the game is being refereed. Bruno, Garnacho and Hojlund getting hacked to bits by various Lyon players. It wouldn’t surprise me if one of them explodes.
