I see a fair number of people getting homicidal about communications in Ukraine. Some destroying property already. I think it a good idea to relax and research first. Here's what a research tool found for me. (I have not dug further into this yet.)

Machine research about how controls the Starshield satellites over Ukraine. Recently rate limited.

Same place taken by Hubble, much of the ancient light in the image taken out by redshifting. (Anigif failed here, so same area using Hubble, as a separate image.)

The James Webb telescope just took a remarkable image of deep space. It shows significant grav. lensing of some galaxies that existed in deep time. Images, ESA, JWST, Hubble. (Does not support anigifs.)

JWST image of a deep area of space (MACS J0454.1-0300) illustrating four fold gravitationally lensed images of the same galaxy.

Thanks I've started looking into those.

Thanks for that. Excellent work.

If you find some really good ones please post on here. I tried out an "Internet Radio Station" recently. Had a channel for the era. Many artists I'd never heard of too. Bandcamp can be good.

I once explored an industrial accident. Took written statements, then did a walk through. The walk through sorted out a significantly different set of facts, being there brought genuine recall.

2TB. That could take a while. I've found a few musicians I like in the last few years but not many!

Amazing group. I don't remember those "concert sessions" as you do. Must admit. I'm uninspired by a lot of the music released today, though.

Vandalism in a way, but a couple of asteroids with plenty of nickel-iron, would largely do a damned good job of it, given enough energy.

Mike Gale @mikegale.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Very well done. Thanks for keeping at this important work. Personally, I'd like a world where a portion of the general public is more aware of what is going on, and is doing something about it,

When humanity depends, for defence, on those with worm holes in their brains, we're in trouble.

I fear that we might be bad news for other life forms. Look at this 6th mass extinction here to see the playbook we inadvertently use! Provided materials can be obtained without undue harm I think space habitats a good idea. A ton of technologies to master and integrate.

I remember those days from that cover. There were a handful of us who used to make posters loosely inspired by various album covers. My bedroom wall had several of mine. Can still remember the imagery that I put in there.

Oh yes. Memorable tracks. Glad we experienced that wonderful age.

I've seen it said that extant forms of life are descended from at least three abiogeneses.

Some get upset, I'm fascinated by the Lewis Carollness of it: As the Miller told his tale ... One of sixteen vestal virgins Who were leaving for the coast ... But I wandered through my playing cards ... And like some angel's haloed brow You reek of purity ...

To me the really interesting question is the original (may have been more than 1) abiogenesis event. Eukaryotic origins are also interesting. It happened remarkably quickly on "planet terror" if it was a local event.

From my youth I only remember stitched and nailed boots. Is this glued on design idea newer?

100

Mike Gale @mikegale.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

Full disclosure, this was second time on those boots. I reattached soles with best glue I could find a coupla years ago. End of day. Was great for me. I discovered Vivo Barefoot Boots (Magna Forest ESC). Water resistant, stitched on soles, most comfortable ever.

The largest camera ever built is making the greatest cosmic movie ever shot, scanning a "frame" of the entire universe every few days for 10 years. And it all starts...now. 🧪🔭 rubinobservatory.org/news/action-...

This 1.7-gigapixel image of a field of stars in the constellation Lupus showcases the unprecedented view of the Universe that NSF–DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory gives us. Equipped with the LSST Camera — the largest digital camera in the world — Rubin combines a wide view of the sky with the ability to detect extremely faint objects. With this capability, Rubin can reveal details of the cosmos across an enormous range of scales, from distant galaxies, to individual stars, to the wispy clouds of dust spread throughout our galaxy.

What a bunch of joyous stage prancing, maniacs. In my mind I associate "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere" with that great Streisand Effect song "Erdowie, Erdowo, Erdogan".

At school I remember a classmate and his family. Parent from Glasgow. Taught me to belt out this, when jolly from a coupla drinks: I belong to Glasgow Dear old Glasgow town Well what's the matter with Glasgow For it's goin' 'roon and 'roon I'm only a common old working chap ...

Quick answer: 1. Brave search can have or not-have Automated Answer Generators. You switch it on or off, "Answer with AI". 2. Kagi Search (paid) has optional LLM generated / AI, features only if you need. 3. Startpage has "Instant Answers" which can be turned on and off in settings.

Computer user interfaces (UIs) have been a disaster for years. Jeffrey Snover is not only the creator of PowerShell, he's done a lot more. Snover just said what many programmers have been facing for years. He calls it a Boof-a-Rama of UI strategy. He knows inside details too.

Fascinating process. There's video of the tips of the leaves. A stream of droplets flows out and into the air. I tracked down some reports on work being done at the foot of the Blue Mountains. They've analysed the composition of the vapours, different species, in and out of flower. 126 compnds.

I think the track was really a one off. The group was into different music mostly. I find it haunting. Here's that image when Fassie was a stand-in. I've enhanced a fairly poor original, which hasn't suffered that much.

Picture of the group Joy (while Brenda Fassie stood in for Anneline Malebo). Famous for a timeless track, "Paradise Road".

Come with me down paradise road
This way please, I'll carry your load
This you won't believe.
Come with me to paradise skies
Look outside and open your eyes
This you must believe.

Fascinating. There are people measuring the nature of democracy and plotting it out year by year, country by country. Their analyses are interesting and thought provoking.
