It looks like he was posting on both, a first time without quotes and the later post with. Because it‘s a medium where people post many times a day, as things are developing, and you can’t make edits? Point is that he was debunking, and it’s a nitpick implying otherwise. x.com/jessesingal/...

For a long time I've wanted a sense of how trump has or hasn't interacted with chatbots (we know he posts a lot of slop sure). And this TIME anecdote about Grok arguably leading Trump into war is just extremely bracing
Since returning to office, Trump has marveled at AI’s capabilities. He is increasingly in thrall to the tech executives courting him. In December 2025, Elon Musk returned to the Oval Office for a clandestine meeting. Trump spent hours asking Grok, Musk’s AI chatbot, questions about his presidency and legacy, according to an official present. At the time, Trump was ordering missile strikes against Venezuelan boats he alleged were smuggling drugs into the U.S. He asked Grok how Venezuelans would react if the U.S. captured Maduro. According to the official present, the chatbot responded that Maduro was a repressive and deeply unpopular dictator and that many Venezuelans would likely celebrate his downfall. After Trump ordered the mission to seize Maduro, the following month, celebrations broke out in the streets. Trump, according to officials, came away thinking Grok was ingenious.

The rise of 287(g) programs has meant that ICE is increasingly using local police as a very significant force multiplier, with up to 1 in 8 arrests of noncitizens in the interior now being carried out by state and local police. This is going to have profound impacts on community relations.

Along the lines of Substack feature parity — I think yes to Bluesky Communities, assuming that can turn into something like the Subscriber chat that most Substack pubs have enabled, where the pub authors set the rules and moderate the community around their pub.

“Other cities have divested“ from NNSC you say, meaning that Baltimore is not contracting with them in 2026 even though they did in 2014 and in the 1990’s. So any city that *was* a client of NNSC in the past but not now has thusly “divested” from them?

Greatest trick AI leaders have pulled is convincing many people—especially influential people in govt, media, and business—that their software is intelligent, independent, yet never culpable. Humans build it, humans deploy it, but no one bears responsibility for the things that happen when they do.

Those areas of the street divided off by posts look like they’re intended for something like bikeshare parking. As someone often pushing a wheelchair: definitely don’t park it on the sidewalk (which looks 4’ wide). If the app makes you, take the photo to end the ride then move it onto the street.

Your numbers don't match the KC published data either; 120 firearm homicides is for 2020-2024 (5 years) not 2012-2024 (which is 13 years). You could say the rate went down if you compare 2012 vs 2024 in isolation, but no two years have confidence intervals that don't overlap, so I'd say it's flat.

I agree there is politicized grandstanding going on here, and idk why Rivera is trying to force this down the mayor‘s throat, but spending $500k on NNSC is likely a much better investment than increasing police staffing with he same amount of funds, which is what others are demanding.

I find this a bit tendentious. The ED of UPenn said the third try worked b/c of how the city implemented focused deterrence (politically & administratively). I.e. they needed help in properly executing focused deterrence b/c the city government’s ops were too broken and its politics too short-term.

Today, we filed a FOIA request with DHS concerning an AI-generated image the @DHSgov X account posted this morning. The image depicts a Transformer facing a South Asian man, over a caption telling "Mr. Singh" to self-deport and get off American roads. We want the prompt.
AI-generated image posted by the DHS account on X, styled as a movie poster. A blue and red robot with the Department of Homeland Security seal on its chest faces a bearded South Asian man in a blue bandana and a monogrammed shirt. A city skyline sits between them at sunset. Text between the two faces reads "SELF-DEPORT OR FIND OUT." Below, in the Transformers logo and typeface, "TRANSFORMERS: AMERICA FOR AMERICANS," and beneath that, "GET OFF OUR ROADS, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE MR. SINGH." A garbled credit block runs along the bottom.First page of a Project Salt Box FOIA request to the DHS Privacy Office, dated September 9, 2026, addressed to the Office of Public Affairs. It seeks records about the use of generative AI to produce public-facing imagery published by DHS, and describes the image posted to the @DHSgov account that morning.

I understand, but if I were to try to interpret that part of the Times article charitably, I'd say it's referring to working alongside police on implementation. The Hopkins page talks about GVI, but only that they do research on it and advocate for it. NNSC/John Jay does the actual hands-on work.

They are tactical and applied, whereas the John Hopkins group is research and policy advocacy (including for NNSC's GVI programs). It's not an either-or; could be both. However, I agree that gun violence in Seattle looks flat on a per-capita basis, and is low relative to many other major cities.

Their commitment to SS/“FilmStack“ is despite the context of an ideal of NonDe (growing a new indie film ecosystem that is ”non-dependent” on current systems & Hollywood); ideologically aligned with Atmo even if they haven’t been properly initiated to it (yet): www.hopeforfilm.com/p/what-is-no...

@schlage.town monetization yes, but syndication IS discovery… expanding from a bounded ATproto sphere (10M MAU) to internectIng Substack’s (20M MAU, guessing largely non-overlapping) increases writers’ reach, provides an off-ramp from SS as enshitt continues, and grows the Atmosphere for all!

But if that wasn’t part of their original comprehensive proposal, then it would be regressive. He seems to allege SEA waited until they got teacher comp increase, then made an entirely new SpEd demand - now claiming the impasse isn’t about their salaries (now that SPS already made that concession).

Honest question: was SEA’s counteroffer regressive, as Shuldiner claims, asking for millions more than SEA’s original proposal? That’s a factual allegation, so should have a clear answer.

Mike Clarke @mikeclarke.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
What exactly are you viewing as unprofessional? His allegation is that SEA was negotiating in bad faith (regressive offer) hence needed to call in the mediators. If that’s the case, it seems appropriate to put SPS’s position forth to those of us affected. All I’m seeing is “that man bad” posts.

This is a minor tangent / nitpick, but some time ago I decided “allowlist / blocklist” was better terminology than “whitelist / blacklist” b/c it’s more descriptive and direct. Same reasoning in using ”markups” instead of “redlining” - and in both cases, you’re eliminating some potential to offend.
