This sounds like great fun - www.joshfinnie.com/blog/the-oct... Who's building Micro SaaS apps next month with @joshfinnie.dev? 🙋‍♂️

The October Micro SaaS Challenge
Four weeks, four small paid software products, and the constraints I'm setting so the month produces something other than another folder of unfinished repos.

I am feeling @kjaymiller.com's words in my bones lately. I don't work in devrel anymore, but I've been struggling to write and publish my dev/builder focused newsletter because... What's the point? kjaymiller.com/blog/my-devr...

This is a great example of a thoughtful notification.
Alarm volume low notification from android: Your 6:00 AM alarm went off but the alarm volume was below 30% and may be too low. Increase the volume so you don't miss an alarm.

Who's thinking about PKM nowadays? I was a very heavy Roam Research user for a long time, and later shifted to LogSeq, and then Obsidian... But I never stopped taking networked notes. This is what keeps me organized, and means I don't worry about forgetting things.

I really love my Pixel 10 Pro, and usually I'd be very excited about a Pixel 11, but... Everything has gotten too damn expensive to keep replacing this thing each year without a great reason. $499 _after_ giving back my current phone is a whole lotta skrilla.

Solid rec! I'll take it for a spin. I'm not sure why I feel like my docker containers need a UI for management, I've been hung up on that. Hadn't considered a headless tool...!

If you ever need evidence that we should be investing more in public education, join your local neighborhood facebook group. Reading comprehension, math & finances, collaboration, sharing resources... it's all there, and your least qualified neighbors will make themselves apparent.

Ah I was being a little facetious, sorry - I am fascinated by the compulsion to always say "UX & UI" or "UX/UI", as though they are inseparable things and not different words/ideas/concepts with different meanings. tl;dr - it's plenty fine to just say "icons" in this case, the Noun Project

This is a super fun series, Jason. What a great idea! I've been talking about The Operator Problem™️ a lot lately - going from an MVP to someone running a product that must be stable and reliable. I hope one several(!) of these teams find their way to that step!

Here's to that - authenticity tends to shine through, and not everyone can be their most authentic on camera (or on-video at all). Not to mention there's a whole bunch of people who would rather be dropped in the middle of the forest alone than have to make a video

One tricky thing for us in migrating off of rails - we didn't want to get in the way of existing use of ActiveRecord with our original db, so we spun up a [new] database that needed to stay in sync with rails. That 2-way sync was a good deal of work, and not without its faults, too

Good question - I think that's probably a decision that should be specific to the use case. For us, we spent some time standing up a new architecture to move to, and tested it by building a few small net-new features to support the new arch/infra before going deep on a legacy feature migration.
