I like this photo as it shows a bunch of trusty gear I use. The tent (Durston Gear X-Mid 2) is a new one, and so is the foldable water bottle, but the backpack, the quilt, the sleeping pad, and the titanium pot have all been with me for years.

We visited Omaha Beach, too. It's one of the beaches where the American soldiers landed during WWII. Tough to imagine what it was like; nowadays it's a lovely beach with this memorial monument called Les Braves.

Pictures from a trip to Normandy! At Étretat, we walked atop these cliffs on the shore of the English Channel. Lovely day, lovely colors. Claude Monet painted dozens of pictures of the cliffs around the town.

We were standing there at the bottom of the crag when there was a thud. A sausage had appeared on the ground. Where did it come from? Were the teenagers making a fire at the top of the cliff trying feed the uncs? Did a crow steal it from them and drop it? We don't know

I've got a new camera and it's *nice* but I've got to say that Fujii's 16-50mm kit zoom is not ideal to use with gloves. You can see the aperture ring in the photo and while it's clicky, it's not stiff at all. So easy to to accidentally brush with your fingers. :pensive_party_blob:

After #PyConUK, I went for a walk in the Peak District. I love the austere, wind-swept tops of the hills, and climbing up a rocky path along a brook provided suitable amount of athletic challenge.

Manchester Museum hosts a number of frogs and reptiles. I went there yesterday and had a lot of fun observing them. Here's one, a magnificient tree frog. #PyConUK folks, the museum is close to the venue and the entry is free, so if you need a break activity, you can go look at the frogs.

Skated on Meiko and other lakes in Kirkkonummi today. Plenty of good ice, but also some scary ice – thin and making cracking noises as you go over it. The sea ice is gone in Helsinki but the lakes still provide. #retkiluistelu
