After two days of working with it, I have to say that the weight of the #FrameworkLaptop is not "light". But it is not heavy either. I can certainly feel the additional 400g when carrying it. That being said, having it on my lap, or even belly when typing while lying in bed, does not feel too bad.
The laptop with the lid closed, on a kitchen scale showing 1316g.

The charger of the #FrameworkLaptop is not as slim as the one of the X1 Nano (more cubical), but same weight with cable. But what is infinitely better, is that no cable is permanently attached. Instead, there is a power jack and a USB-C one. So I get to decide the […] [Original post on mas.to]
Side by side comparison of the chargers of Lenovo X1 Nano (left), and Framework (right), both on a kitchen scale, showing 180g and 185g, respectively. Both with the laptop-side cables. For Lenovo, the cable is permanently attached, with a clearly visible point where is will break over time from curling and uncurling. One side of the Framework charger, with a USB-C port. No cabels are attached anywhere.

One day mobile work without a trackpoint on a #FrameworkLaptop. This is my workaround. I hardly use right-clicks, so that is a right-thumb task. The key is setting the pointer acceleration to max. This makes it possible to move the pointer with the right thumb […] [Original post on mas.to]
Screenshot of the KDE touchvpad configuration dialog. The following options are set/enabled: device enabled, disable while typing, tap-to-click, tap-and-drag, scrolling two fingers, right-click press bottom-right corner. The pointer acceleration is set to the maximum of 1.00

We are looking for a community manager and development coordinator for @datalad !! The full description with contact info is at files.inm7.de/mih/position_coordina… #rse #boost #getfedihired
The top row shows the Datalad logo and the research center Jülich logo.

The text of the post is:

The Psychoinformatics group (https://psychoinformatics.de) at the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM7) (https://www.fz-juelich.de/en/inm/inm-7) at the Helmholtz Research Center in Jülich (Germany) is looking for a community manager and development coordinator.

The group is heavily invested in the development of free and open source software and computing systems for data-intensive research. We drive the development of the research data management solution DataLad (https://datalad.org), organize community events (e.g., https://distribits.live), and contribute to a number of large collaborative research initiatives that employ or interface with the solutions developed by the group. These cover a wide range of topics from mobile health applications, to neuroscience research on motor control and aggression, to European research data infrastructure development.

The role of the sought community manager will be to coordinate and streamline the group’s development and educational activities with the goal to provide researchers with an optimal user experience of our solutions and to oversee and prioritize developments to achieve this goal.
