Same thing happened to me. My productivity just plummeted from 100 to 0.

I took the family bowling, and my 5-year-old decided to lick a bowling ball. Just living this parent life. #parents #kids

Cursor AI has always had spotty service, but now it's completely down. Developers, you can now take your breaks.

I went to a meet up for React in Austin TX where Evan Bacon gave a talk about Dom components. I asked him tamagui and had only negative things to say. It doesn’t help the maintainer is now trying to compete with Expo with his ONE Stack.

There are so many abandoned UI libraries. Why? Native Base, UI Kitten and React Native Elements just to mention a few.

010

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 15/02/2025

I tried Tamagui, it was a painful experience just getting it to work. I found three different ways to initialize Tamagui with expo and 1 of them didn’t work. After getting it to work it would take 30 mins minimum to understand and apply a feature. I might eventually try it again.

Crazy how some of the most innovative technologies are coming from china. TikTok, DeepSeek and all the Tencent Video Games. No wonder USA tech doesn’t want Chinese electric vehicles.

Me in college thinking to myself, British Literature can’t be that much harder than English Literature. Lmao 🤣

030

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 23/01/2025

nope, it's kind of scary bc everyone is rolling out their own UI library using stylesheet or nativewind. I'm like, how much time do you have on your hands?

020

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 22/01/2025

Are y’all being serious right now?! Is everyone in React Native raw dogging style sheet and rolling out their our UI library for every project??!!

I just need a RN UI library that works and it’s maintained

010

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 12/01/2025

Get it. Bro I was sick last weekend, now both kids have the flue lmao 🤣

120

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 09/01/2025

Bro same here. They call me 19 times a day.

010

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 08/01/2025

NativeWind v4 is great. You can use it stand alone or with RN Reusables or NativeWind UI There are some popular UI libraries that are not maintained like KittenUI. The big problem is the new release of RN .76 and all the bugs it has created for these libraries.

010

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 08/01/2025

It’s hard to talk about Tamagui bc I want to like it, but it takes so much time to set up and learn how it works. Documentation is missing so you have to dig into the code. But the maintainer is very active and a lot of progress has been made. Hopefully they address the big issues so I can adopt.

110

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 08/01/2025

React Native Reusables is by far the best one I found, but it kinda being maintained and definitely not being worked on. Definitely many bugs that are not being addressed. The maintainer is putting most of his time on his new library NativeWind Ui

110

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 08/01/2025

But I’m currently developing a project and testing out different React Native UI. This is my take aways. So many abandoned UI libraries - UI kitten, Native Base, React Native Elements and many others. RN Paper has limitations for web and requires special installation.

110

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 08/01/2025

I’m an Angular Dev, so angular with capacitor. Im not doing anything to crazy so performance is not an issue or working with native technologies.

010

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 08/01/2025

Bluesky is a better example of a fully RN app. They have been having a lot of issues making the UI work for web and native. In the RN rocket ship podcast one of their developers talk about what a mess their UI system is.

110

Miguel Vazquez (Mickey) @migueldv90.bsky.social · 08/01/2025

React Native needs a solid UI library. That’s the main thing lacking in the echo system. I started a new project for a client in RN and quickly pivoted to something else.
